getting going in the garden

Hi guys and girlies,
been working today till midday then home for a spot of gardening after my lovely Baz made my fav saturday lunch of two boiled eggs and toasted soldiers lol.
anyway the sun is shining and its quite warm to, perfect to get myself motivated at last.
so got my spade and falk out and started with my pond area even though i had cleared it all a couple of weekends ago.
i decided to move a couple of plants and also plant some tulip bulbs which were in a pot into the ground, they seemed to be a bit slow so thought they may improve,
well not sure how they will grow as i noticed some were a bit soft after the harsh winter, so time will tell i guess.
next i moved budleia buzz into the centre of a little corner bed as there were two there last year and iv already moved one near the pond which doesnt look very healthy at the monet and its roots arent growing very well, another winter dissaster i thinks.
then started on the mid section of my raised border, clearing old foilage from plants growing new shoots, all doing very well.
my clematis constance has gone mad this year with so many buds ready to open soon i think, but one problem the fence is going to be replaced in the next week or two at the most the man said :o( im a bit worried about this but hoping i will be around to supervise and hold my costance away from the fence while the new panel is set in, fingers crossed, you will see how she is growing in my pictures soon.
also taken quite a few nettles out which were starting to clump quite fast, so no mercy there im afraid.
tidied out the grow house but not sure what to do with it really, its no good for winter, iv tried and its not in a warm spot so nothing survives, may get shut of it all together.
i wanted to cut the grass but baz thinks its still to boggy, im not convinced lol, i think he is trying to get out of it, maybe later when he has worked wonders on his car haha
seen lots of ladybirds which is lovely, goldfinches flying back and forth to the feeder but hard to get picture when your ballancing on the rockery with a falk in hand and the camera over the other side of the garden lol
anyway took a few pics of the costance and some plants showing their new shoots
as you can see constance is enjoying the weather and spreading over to the next trellis, so when fence is changed i will put one large trellis there
peony come through for its 3rd year, wonder if i will get a flower this time ;o(
first hellebore and my little salix is starting to bud which i adore
lots of plants starting to appear around the pond to, its looked so bare through winter, Dicentra pink is growing fast now and also delphiniums comming up around the garden so im keeping my eyes peeled for slugs, normally ok but you never know
little white dicentra kindly sent by hywel last year has come through so iv planted it near the pond im so happy, thanx hywel :o),
hope you are all getting sunshine to and enjoying the garden, im quite tired after my few hours, certainly takes a while to get back into it after winter doesnt it, phew! im beat lol
have a great weekend friends

Your garden is looking lovely San, wasnt it a beautiful day today, well here it was and I was out at nine this morning, digging until one o clock, with my garden helper and my border is now looking lovely, it is cleared and I have been re-planting slowly. A few more weeks and I can say that I will be very happy to go out there and work again, it was getting me down. Keep up the good work San and enjoy.

Hi Sanbaz - what an array of colour you will be having shortly - you have masses of things about to burst forth.
It's amazing how a few hours of sunshine makes everything come alive.
Look forward to seeing pics in a couple of weeks or so.

19 Mar, 2011
San my grass has been cut twice...... honest!
19 Mar, 2011
Hi Sanbaz, it was a beautiful day here too. My main job today was clearing the front path of moss before putting down the moss killer and finally more stones. It was very hard work. Barry finished the green house yesterday....will photograph it tomorrow. At least we are busy. It all makes such a big difference doesn't it? Your garden is a bit further on than mine, but be did have snow just a few days ago!!! Good luck with the fencing.
19 Mar, 2011
Been doin much the same as you, love that bronze leave peony its lovely, been moving a few things around and weeded a border, enjoyed it ,great to get in the garden.
19 Mar, 2011
I've not been out in the garden today....instead been cultivating a relationship between 4 lively grandkids and our new family member of the feline variety, Lucy.
The kids were out in the garden but their dad had been out there earlier cleaning the end of our spray adjustment on our hose....blocked up completely by the concrete used when the contractor was laying the patio. Workmen don't take care of our equipment....I will hide it all away...or on second thought....I won't invite this particular contractor back again!
You've been very busy San...and like the others have commented, your peony is looking very handsome. Sure hope you can prevent your clematis from succumbing to the construction of the new fencing. It's beautiful at the moment to see it bursting into life :)
19 Mar, 2011
Ah! Tree Paeony! Lovely!
19 Mar, 2011
val it does need it but gets so flooded here when it rains as we have clay soil and takes ages to grain away, but if nice for next couple of days will try it.
hi linda i hate that job clearing moss but seems ok here at the moment, good luck with that one, glad you got the greenhouse finished, will look forward to seeing it, happy planting :o)) hope your weather warms up soon and your garden starts to come to life again.
thanx daylily the peony was green to start but seems to be going bronze with age, not sure if thats good or bad really, but still comes back and looks healthy, glad your enjoying your garden to :o)
hi jacquie bet you have had lots of fun today with grankids, hope they were patient with lucy, your right about workmen dont seem to care do they, iv had words with fence man so fingers crossed, will let you know how it goes when done :o)

I'm pleased about the white Dicentra. It has settled in well hasn't it. I hope you get lots of flowers on it now'
I like that Constance. I nearly bought one last year. It's a lovely colour.
Your pebbles by the pond are lovely :)
Now I don't blame Baz for not cutting the lawn. It's such a boring thing to do. Tell him to get rid of it, then he will never get bored again - and you can have more plants :o)))
20 Mar, 2011
lol hywel, you made me laugh as usual haaha, glad you like constance to, you should get one, as for the grass i love to see some green but i will be taking some away this year for a new bed :o), its raining here and we are surpose to be going to altrincham to dunham massy today, just looked at weather for manchester and says partly cloud but no mention of rain ummm. shall we chance it, i just dont want to be stuck inside again.hope your garden is coming along nicely :o)
20 Mar, 2011
ha ha ho ho ho! It doesn't mention rain for Manchester....lol....it doesn't NEED to mention rain for Manchester.....it's ALWAYS raining in Manchester....I lived there for two years....sorry Mancunians, I know you love your city but it's not my 'happy place' !!
20 Mar, 2011
Looks like everything coming along nicley, i've got quite a lot coming through now aswell , tell Baz i cut my grass the other day, it was a bit damp but left the box of the back,so it cut really well, needs some weed and feed on it as there is abit of moss, but can do put it on in April.
20 Mar, 2011
Everythings coming along well in your garden sandra..... my lawns have been cut twice this year....... front lawn was a bit more boggy as its north facing....
20 Mar, 2011

20 Mar, 2011
Glad you're geting rid of some boring lawn ;o) I haven't done much to the garden. I think I'm getting bored with plants.
20 Mar, 2011
You need pots Hywel!? :))
20 Mar, 2011
I preffer making pots to fiddling in the garden. I'm getting bored with it.
20 Mar, 2011
lol karen :o)
yes but only a bit hywel, i love my green grass and karens right some nice pots would be different hywel, maybe a gravel area to :o)
20 Mar, 2011
Gravel would be nice :)
20 Mar, 2011
lol...I just realised what i said!...what i meant to say was...you need to MAKE some pots Hywel!? I'm not sure what's happening for you and your garden. I wonder if it's just seeming like to enormous a task at the moment? Or perhaps you've lost a lot of plants over the winter..your lovely fuchsias? Perhaps you're just a bit 'low energy' at the moment? I know I have been very low energy for a while, but I think it is finally waking up in me again! :) Hope you get that kiln going again soon Hywel! Wish I lived closer and could come and give you hand with it! I love all aspects of garden work...as long as it's outdoor and I have the tool for the job, I am quite happy to do anything! I even quite enjoyed digging up turf today...MAD!!
20 Mar, 2011
what you digging up turf for karen, a new project maybe,
hywel i think a nice gravel area and seating area would be great where you could sit and enjoy in summer, maybe further down the garden which would be a change from your usual seating area near house, you have got alot on and think like karen says its all a bit to much, just focus on one part at a time in your head ;o))
20 Mar, 2011
Yes San, it's the long-talked-about gravel garden at the front of the house! Long way to go yet, but will do blog when finished!
20 Mar, 2011
oh yes i remember karen, cant wait to see it done, and just know it will be special karen knowing you and your garden :o)
20 Mar, 2011
Thanks San! :)
20 Mar, 2011
Thank you Karen. Thank you Sandra. I've been in a 'funny' mood lately. I suppose it will clear in time :) xx
21 Mar, 2011
Love the pond Sanbaz, everything is looking very healthy :)
21 Mar, 2011
makes two of us hywel, think im going through midlife crisis lol, im finding it hard to keep up on here to and everything here, will have to take time out i think, so many pictures and blogs, then i feel bad if i cant see them all ;o(
sorry im moaning now lol
thanx judy glad you like my pond area, did this last year and love it, so calming ;o))
21 Mar, 2011
I know Sandra. I have missed some photos lately. I try not to worry but I feel as if I have offended people if I don't see their photos/blogs
However, there are people who always ignore all my photos/blogs, so I ignore theirs :) and only notice the ones who notice mine !
21 Mar, 2011
It can easily become overwhelming and a task to see all the blogs/photos/comments and with spring arriving I've noticed an increase in new members as well.
Try not to get tied up in knots San...as Hywel says he does his best to keep up with people who are following his and that works for him.
My problem is that I can write for England....so often I think my replies/comments are a lot for people to wade through! Love GoY though and all the people I've met here :)
21 Mar, 2011
dito hywel lol :o))
jacquie its not the writing its the time i have at the moment, art twice a week then thats leaves wed and sunday to try get the garden done as i work thursday, friday and sat, then appointments and family, oh and baz haha im meeting myself coming back lol :o))
22 Mar, 2011
