Fife Flower show Part 2 Alpines, Cactus and Bonsai

I have put these three sections together because the first two were not well supported. I show the prize winners in each of the Alpine and and Cactus Sections.
This class was for three pans of alpines.

Some other winners in the alpine section

We were late in coming to the show so some of the cactus might have been removed. This is the only one I found. It is Mammillaria Carmenae. Deserves a prize for the lovely name don’t you think Hywel.

There was no shortage of Bonsai plants. There is a thriving Bonsai club in Fife.

I missed this photo out of the blog. It shows very clearly that the exhibitor has used vertical slabs of pottery to direct the water down to the roots and away from the plant itself. If the plant sits in water it will rot.

I agree that Gentian is superb!! Almost glowing. Enjoyed the pictures Sheila and loved those vegetable exhibitions made by the children. That wee penguin was so cute :)

The alpines are lovely, esp the cyclamen and that blue one ... pitty there was only one cactus. I've got the red spined variety of that :o)
The bonsais were nice. I've never tried growing those, but they're always very attractive I think.

Thank you TT glad to see you back. Sticki and Scottish that gentian was so good. I dk how he does it but that chap has green fingers. Most of the plants here belonged to him. Bb and Mg would recognise the name of the exhibitor because he enters lots of plants at the Edinburgh SRGC show too. Hywel the cyclamen is very good as is the blue gentian. That is interesting that you have a similar cactus. I wish you lived close enough to enter some of yours. They are so beautiful when in flower. I dk that you could move them around much when they are flowering. This is an open show so exhibitors travel great distances to enter it. Prize winners came from Aberdeen, The Borders, East Lothian and all round the Central Belt.
