The visit to Cottagekaren's garden.

We definitely need smellyvision to convey the immersion feeling you get in this garden. From the minute we turned in to the drive we were engulfed in a scented heaven. There was a slight breeze wafting the scent of roses and iris around us. Karens welcoming smile turned in to a wide beam of delight to find she was meeting another goyer. I had to get my camera out but forgive me if the photos are not wonderful. I never did understand planting colour borders but Karen has chosen with care and the eye of an artist and one feels the mood changes, as we go around. For some reason the website refused to publish the first photo showing the border along the drive. It was very colourful with the blue iris and lots of clematis climbing over shrubs and apple trees.
We walked past this island bed to get to the yellow border.
OH being my version of Karen’s Scott was taken with the house. At first sight it looks like a modern bungalow but he was delighted to find this is actually a very old property with some modern additions. I was busy checking out my first lesson on how to plant a colour themed border. The yellow was vibrant and full of texture and shapes. The result is amazing. The garden revealed surprises as we walked around and I am finding it difficult to describe all that we saw. Having taken photos of the pod (absolute luxury) the camera battery failed and I could not get photos of the White garden which is every bit as striking as the yellow border at the front. We were glad to sit and enjoy the tea, cake, view, the birds and talking to other visitors. We had a lovely afternoon and we will visit again. ps, I bought a bottle of elderflower juice so I can try out that delicious cake recipe.

What has been achieved is wonderful. There was so much space. I dk how big the garden is but the layout was very clever.

The pleasure is all ours Sbg. When you visit a garden you always want to feel inspired and to have learned something. We got that in Karen's garden. We look forward to seeing how the garden changes in August for your visit Linda. There was lots coming on to give changes without spoiling the ambiance Karen has created.

Oh my word! I just found this blog! I’m so sorry its taken me so long Scotsgran. Linda and Barry came to visit today, in the damp and grey. But we did have a nice day the day you came didn’t we? And it was so lovely to have you here. Thanks for the lovely blog! :)

I must say you did all the hard work and we were very fortunate to enjoy it all. Thank you.

It's a shame one can't post videos here as Karen's garden deserves to be seen in its all-round glory.
We will never travel as far as the Scottish borders again so it's great to be able to view the lovely garden even in "still" images.
Must be great also to meet up with GOY members in person!

The battery might have died but the photos you did take are lovely, gave a real flavour of the garden - even without the scent!
