What is colourful in our garden?

Thank goodness I grow trees and shrubs. I hope you enjoy a glimpse of our alternative beauties. We have been able to enjoy these indoors when it is too cold, too wet and far too windy to go in to the garden.

Awe you are lucky having a visit from the Woody Woodpecker they dont half have a squark on them I can hear them at the rear of my house but never ventured into my garden. Love the Robin and Tit you captured them well. Really pretty those Snowdrops and Crocus .

super birding in your garden. I love our conservatory for the same reason, I can sit and watch the comings and goings in the garden. Better than any soap on the tv. Not watched a soap for over 20yrs now. too much screaming and shouting.

I agree, you are so lucky getting that woodpecker and your pictures made me smile as you can imagine it trying its hardest to get the fat balls. We always had one visit us at Willow Cottage. We have about 20 or more sparrows here and they bully the gold finches and blue tits until they fly off. Even the robin won't stand up to them !

Lovely blog! It’s great to sit and watch the birds feeding and flying around. Fab to see you’ve a woodpecker visiting too! You are lucky, not a bird we’re likely to see in our garden sadly..saying that, I’m happy with robins and wrens, finches and tits. :-)

Thank you all for your lovely comments. I cheat Stera because I take photos on the security camera given us by my son as a Christmas present. I then photograph them and edit them on my own computer. They are on OH's computer and I dk how to transfer them to mine. It is fiddly but I hoped I could share our enjoyment with other members who, like us, are almost housebound. If I had answered earlier I would have said we had not seen any male woodpeckers but they are back too. I agree with Woodpeckers being noisy but the wren is our noisiest resident. We have quite a few and they are very quick so it is not easy to get photos of them. The coal tits (4th photo left side) are so cute. They visit so often I wondered what they were doing as they just dash in and are off again with some tiny morsel. I saw on Winterwatch that they are the squirrels of the bird world as they store food in tree bark for later.

Some very happy visitors to your garden SGran, and I love your shrubs and trees too.

Thank you Stroller. It takes me so long to edit the photos I did not manage to put on photos of the Long Tail Tits, the Sparrows, the Goldfinch, a Blackbird and several Thrushes. We also saw a Treecreeper which is not a regular and we only see it occasionally. I so agree with Sbg that watching the birds is better than the TV soaps.

They love that feeder! When I was a child in Sheffield I used to feel very sad that all British birds were brown or black! (Well they were where we lived - they were nearly all sparrows!) Glad you have a woodpecker. Is Mr anywhere around?
But when push comes to shove we all love the robin don't we? It must have taken you quite a while to get shots of all those!
