Robins

After spending the later part of the morning clearing paths, pavements and the driveway – my attention turned to sorting out the birds. Fresh food was needed, particularly the ground feeders – the bird table would have to sit empty for a while as my little ginger cat was sheltering under it’s roof. When I say, sheltering, I really mean eyeing up the birds – don’t worry, they’ve got used to him being there and he’s done more damage to himself than to any birds!!
Kettle was on for warm water, not for me as I don’t take tea or coffee. My caffeine fix comes from a dark coloured soft drink – minus the vodka :) The bird bath and drinking saucers had their icy contents melted, removed and replaced!
I thought I would have a practice run for next weekend’s Big Bird Count. It’s my first one and I’ve recently joined the RSPB, so am keen and all that!!
Stool out, camera out and action!!!!
Please enjoy……
I had fun today, watching these characters go about their business.
Robins, I believe, are generally very territorial but over the course of the last week or so there has been at least 5 visiting and tolerating each other. I suspect that lack of food elsewhere is the reason either that or they are all getting ready for mating!
I hope you enjoyed and thanks for looking

Lovely pics.....they are little posers, the Robins.
I've found over the last few years that the robins tolerate each other.I suspect it's because there's always lots of food for them so no need to be territorial!I have a few feeders(ground and hanging) and there's always lots of insects around my garden as I grow lots of flowering plants which attract them in summer and my soil is quite rich having had lots of organic matter added over the years, so plenty worms etc!

What a lovely blog....isn't it funny how we can never get enough of these vicious little thugs? I can tell from you first few lines that you did have snow! We've had none....none lying at all and the frozen bits have melted away today as well, but it was a horrid day again, dark, cold, windy and wet. I've meant to do the garden bird count for the last few years....might get around to it this year! thanks for reminding us. X

Thanks for liking and your lovely comments.
Sticki - I think they would probably be inundated with pictures, can you imagine just how many would be submitted!!
Paul - thanks, I agree, Posers describes them! I've got plenty feeders and I'm doing my best to encourage as much wildlife into the garden.
Karen - yes, they can be quite vicious! Snow here not too bad, its almost gone today. It's bloomin' cold though! I hope it's brightened up a bit for you today. Hope you find the time to join in :)
Lincslass, I do hope they all make an appearance next weekend - I haven't seen a coal tit for about 2 weeks, I'm wondering where they've got too.
Nariz - thank you for liking my pics, my favourite picture didn't download I've just noticed.
Paul, thanks for favouring and liking
Meadowland - one thing's for sure - you can always see and hear them! I hope your new visitor stays around!
Hywel - they are friendly and don't scare off! Mind you the whole time I was outside, none of them flew off. Too hungry I think. Thanks for liking my pictures - I know they are not your favourite topic :))
Cmsue - they were quite happy to have me sit and watch them.
Junna - Kumsta? I'm sure they enjoyed me getting some pictures. I've others of different birds and will save those for another blog! It was lovely and sunny so I didn't mind sitting outside with the snow all around!
