Camera sorted Houseplants on parade.

After installing the disc that came with the camera and spending ages reading the instructions I have altered the settings so the photos are within the ‘uploading range’ and suitable for ‘uploading to the web’; in accordance to the camera info.

Husband’s comments edited for politeness were ‘They wont be good enough to get a decent print if you so desire to do so’. He is really into his photography so I am committing blasphemy here you understand. :o)))

Any way here are the photos:

So I have wandered around taking some pictures.

last years cyclamen flowering again

Streptocarpus – leaves in focus flower a little out of focus, too close to the plant I suspect.

African Violets a strong deep pink and a white edged mauve one. Should have done some dead heading on this last one befre taking its picture. Oops.

Hope the camera is doing them justice.
appologies if they dont ‘float your boat’ too, but someone has to be the guinea pig !

The Cyclamen shot is very nice..It is always funny with a new camera I think. Just keep clicking, that is the beauty of digital.

Glad to see you're having fun with your new camera even though there's not much to take pics of in the depths of winter. Lovely indoor plants like your cyclamen and African Violet are very worthy subjects, great pics :o)) Well done on getting to grips with the sizing at source even if husband does disapprove. Maybe I should follow suit as I often forget to resize before I post them and find it very annoying to have to do it all over again.

nice camera, Leica lens I think? does it have macro or flower mode button SBG for close up shots?

29 Dec, 2011

Your photos are floating my boat nicely SBG! I think sometimes you're just a tad too close, but that's easily remedied! Just keep practising! ;0) the cyclamen is really beautiful!

yes it is a Leica lens and it has both auto focus and manual features. It has flower and close up facility too Bamby. There is also video facility.
I got very used to the previous camera and have yet to adjust for its abilities. I started photography with a Zenith camera back in the 70's where I used to note the f value and all that gubbings for every picture I took. OH and I used to process all our own B/W film and we spent alot of our courtship in the woods noting all the wildlife in the area. And before there are any saucy comments about all the time in the woods we are both graduate Botantist/Zoologists So all legit :o)

Thanks for all the words of encouragement folks.

Negative thinking ! that's funny !
I used to do photography in Italy, we hired a doctors old surgery & converted it into our dark-room. Wow, to think of all that palarva from developing to fixing to drying etc before you get to the print stage plus all the equipment we used. I was 17 & enjoyed it very much but, like yourselves, defo no girls allowed ( & I did fall in love with Rosseta, Lucia, Anna - - - he drifts off down memory lane !!!! LOL ;-)))))

I'm very late in catching up with your blog, SG, sorry! The Cyclamen looks really lovely! Just keep practising with your camera, fortunately nowadays you can just delete anything you don't like, no waiting till you've finished the roll in the camera, no taking/sending it away to be developed, no messy/dangerous chemicals either! I often upload mine to the computer within minutes of taking them! On the odd occasion I've deleted one I didn't like, gone out & taken another! I've posted them on the internet also within minutes of taking them! What a change digital photography has brought to our lives!!! :-))

Nevertheless they can also be a terrible bane! Most of my photos are now taken with the camera on my mobile phone but on rare occasions I get out my Digicam to take a few pictures. I did that last November, to get some big photos of our grandkids & use the flash, my mobile's camera doesn't have a flash, I uploaded them to the computer as soon as we got home. No problems at all. In fact Windows Scanner & Photo Wizard got them without the slightest trouble. (I'd uninstalled the software that came with the camera months before.) This weekend just gone I wanted to take some photos of plants on the balcony using the Macro function & also the Zoom & the highest definition. I took about 8 photos then I tried to upload them to the computer but no programme on the computer recognizes them!

Windows Scanner & Photo Wizard said it couldn't detect any scanner or camera. I tried it twice but no luck! As I still had the original CD that came with the camera I installed the programme again. I hit problems with that as after only 24% of the installation it said it couldn't find the English Help files & terminated the installation. I went through it a 2nd time with identical results! :-(( As the programme came with other languages I tried Spanish, as I speak it, no problems there! :-)) When the programme opened it said there were NO photos on the camera!!! I had 8! I closed the programme & tried a 2nd time, no joy either!

Today I tried it again with both programmes - No photos/no camera! I then tried importing them from Picasa, again I got no camera detected! I then took another photo using a different configuration & a lower definition & tried all the 3 programmes again - still no results! GRRRRRRR!!!!! I have 9 photos I can't get off the camera now!

I don't have a card reader as somebody suggested - I don't even have space to fit one in the computer - unless it can be attached by USB cable.

18 Jan, 2012

Card readers are attatched to the PC by a USB cable Balcony. What Camera were you using?

18 Jan, 2012

I used my wife's laptop yesterday & I had no trouble accessing the camera! It not only found 8 but another 10 as well! I downloaded them all & I've now got the photos on my computer!

My camera is an 'Olympus Camedia D-39582'.

Ah good, and a surprise 10 extra. Glad you are up and running.
