After 8 days in hospital I came home yesterday.
I was so touched by all your good wishes; thank you. Oh has done a sterling job for me so thanks to him and Stera for keeping you up to date.
I still feel a little fragile but have had a wander around the garden and looked into my sewing room. Now I’m watching the squirrels from the conservatory.
Just remember to cover your mouth when you are coughing! The lady on my sewing course didn’t think it necessary, I do and although I cant be certain I caught her bugs I think I did.
I’m just glad I don’t often take antibiotics as they did the trick very quickly.

Wonder if pro-Biotics would help strengthen the weakness in my back caused by the invasive virus 5 years ago. Am drinking 8 glasses of pure water a day now, it seems to make it weaker. Medical expert coming to visit me, have asked her to try and find out before she gets here ! I never knew anything about body cells before I fell on the garden and couldnt get up. 8 hours on the drip at the hospital, I felt the strength returning to my legs. Oh to be young again !
I said I drank 2 pints of water a day with cordial in the heatwave. The Dr. said " It should have been 4 pints of pure water."
Am studying Boosting the Immune System - am doing all the 10 suggestions on line already - so have got that right. What else can I do ? Very unsteady on my feet.

Lovely to hear that you are now back home again where you can get comfy and build up your strength.
I believe that live yoghurts are the things to eat when you have had a course of antibiotics. So pleased that the antibiotics did the trick and acted so quickly.
Take care.

Hi Eileen, good to hear that you're on the mend, and home again, best wishes, Derek.

Glad you're back Eileen and on the mend.

Welcome home, Eileen.
I was always advised to take Probiotics taken after a course of antibiotics in order to restore some of the healthy bacteria in the intestines.
I also ate Manuka Honey! Love it!

Eirlys...you were very lucky! You had a good Dr. I had lots of antibiotics when Zi was young. Recurring tonsilitis. It was only last year, when I read ‘The Healthy Gut’ diet by Michael Mosely that I learned about gut flora. Its well worth a read Diane, and it might be a good idea to get tested for allergies too. :)

Hi Eileen, I'm glad you're home now and hope you are feeling better each day. Take care.
I can hear my mother's voice from when I was little, telling me "cover your mouth when you're coughing !" lol …

Excellent news Eileen. Its good to have you back.
(Take care in future to sit well away from the ignorant and rude woman who distributes her germs so genereously!)
Re probiotics its a good idea to take the advice of your local health food shop as they keep tabs on products and are also good with advice. (eg there is even a newish one that you can take at the same time as the antibiotics!) Organic goats yogurt and kefir are both excellent sources - they don't have identical flora so you can use both! And they don't taste "goaty" at all)
Sent you a PM Diane.

Sorry to hear of your enforced stay in hospital, but pleased to see you're home again. I always take up my Flue jab each year, and 2 years ago was offered a pneumo jab against bacterial pneumonia which I also took up. Take it easy whilst you get back to full strength.

Sorry to hear you’ve been in hospital for 8 long days, poor you, all the best for a swift recovery x

Glad to hear you are home, and feeling much better,Eileen..Sounds like a lot of people are quite 'generous' in passing on their germs..makes my blood boil when that happens...The advice on Probiotics is something I'd not heard of either. I can't remember the last time I took antibiotics, but will bear it in mind for the future...Hope you will feel stronger day by day .xx

I was discharged with some probiotics and told which ones to get. I always knew about antibiotics upsetting the gut so in the past I have eaten/drunk them.

That's excellent news - good to see hospitals getting real and offering other things than drugs!

So sorry to hear you have been so unwell but glad that you are on the mend now. Funny, my vet even told me to give Ben Bio yogurt after he had to have antibiotics from cutting his paw. Think the news is starting to get out there. Take it easy.

Thank God antibiotics still work for most of us. But SBG...be sure to take a strong course of probiotics now, as they destroy all the good bugs in your gut and can lead to all sorts of issues. This is what the GPs never tell you. So glad to hear you are home. Rest up! X
