....and then they were gone!

As many of you know my garden is a very shady one mainly due to the mature beech on the west boundary and the other trees mainly ash and sycamore in the grounds of the old vicarage.
On Wednesday at 8 am, I was having a lie in, reading, when I heard a chainsaw start up. Now my hubby has been known to cut down shrubs when I don’t want them doing. I leapt [well not leapt exactly] out of bed and looked out the window and a man who was up one of the trees was looking back. Don’t know who was more surprised and he didn’t drop his chain saw at the sight of me there. I wont explain further use your imagination! Once suitably clothed I took this photo.
By mid afternoon I could see more of the fields at the back of us.
At the end of the day and 8 fewer sycamore trees this bit of the garden was getting some sunshine. Normally it gets about an hour or two only first thing in the mornings.
We now get much nicer sunsets too as we can see them.
The lads worked solidly all day and shredded/chipped as they went along. No broken fences or damage to the old beech tree either. The neighbour had to get planning permission as they had TPO’s on them and pay for their removal as the owners of the old vicarage are not interested in maintaining them.

What a difference removing those trees has made, a lovely view into the countryside now.

Wow I didn't even know you had a view hidden away, what a difference that has made Seaburn, your garden is going to love the extra light as I'm sure you will...My mind ran away with me picturing you and the young fella..LOL..

It's nice the trees have gone, you've got a lovely view and some sunlight.
I once lived in a house where the garden was in deep shade on a summer afternoon and I didn't like it. There was no way the trees concerned would ever be got rid of so I moved.

What a lovely view you have now. It must have been a bit of a shock to see the trees disappearing but all was well in the end. Your garden will benefit with more light.
Love Marjorie

Its surprising how much difference removing even one large branch makes - no wonder you are happy! I wonder if the owners had to pay the fine as they had TPOs on them.

No fines as the neighbour had to apply for planning permission due to the tpo's. the council agreed but the neighbours had to pay for the work.
