Just a quick blog to bring those of you who know my girls of what is happening to them.
I guess I mention Victoria more due to her wildlife conservation interests. She graduated in June 2020 with a BSc in Wildlife conservation, having completed her dissertation during lock down. In September she accepted her boyfriend Dan’s proposal of marriage. We were overjoyed. Dan is also a wildlife conservationist and is staying with us for the next 4 months as he has a work placement up in Nth Yorkshire.
This month we will try to sort out a date and venue then September this year she will go back to Uni to do a Masters of science in Biodiversity and wildlife.
So Victoria is sorted.
Elizabeth, my eldest girl is a fashion graduate and has had a rough time at work for the last year and has generally been very ‘down in the dumps’. This last week she has been approached, headhunted and has had the offer of 2 new jobs and one is clearly back in fashion as a garment technician. That is the one she has chosen, both would have been a promotion but she is so much happier.
Today she and her boyfriend have gone up to Barnard Castle for 4 days holiday. Whilst there Matthew has proposed and she said yes! We think this is brilliant news too.
So both girls look as if they are going to be settled. Hubby is ‘panicking’ a bit as we will have 2 weddings to sort out but I have reassured him that he wont have to sell any bikes! Bless him.
I am told I will NOT wear a hat and I am so happy about that ;o))

Wonderful news - must be such a relief to know they are both settled and happy, though I guess you'll miss Victoria around the place ...
What does a garment technician do? It sounds very interesting. Is it to do with pattern cutting? I remember how excited got when I learned how to move the shaping from one seam to another...such a long time ago!
Lots of interesting work will be coming your way with two weddings , but at least the hat problem won't be a worry...
Congratulations to all concerned!

That’s really lovely to hear Eileen … you have put a smile on my face 🙂. Congratulations to you all for such happy news!

Thank you for all the congratulations, I will pass it on.
No dates have been set yet and I doubt that they will be in the very near future. Both girls are adamant that they want to pay towards the cost of their weddings.
Yorks a garment technician checks that the garment is made correctly, sizing is correct to international standards, fabrics are as stated on the label and if needed may have to adapt the pattern if it does not fit the standard Dress form [dummy] so yes pattern cutting. Luckily Elizabeth got a first on all her pattern cutting assignments at uni. {she was at Newport S Wales and lived in Caerleon so both girls have a S Wales link}

Fantastic news, Eileen! A big congratulations to Elizabeth and Matthew!!! Lovely to hear! You’ll have empty nest syndrome soon! Thank goodness you can both get out on the bikes, plus the bonus is OH should be happy that he won’t have to sell any of his well loved motorcycles! 😊👰🏻🤵🏻

Happy, happy blog, isn't it lovely to find two couples that want to marry! I was beginning to believe that marriage was a dying thing, but you have obviously brought them up to believe it is worthwhile - good for you, may they have loads of happiness.
And why not a hat? I think it's a shame that men and women stopped wearing hats, a bloke in a Trilby and a woman with a dainty hat!

Thank you for all your warm wishes.
I hate hats, always have done and not that keen on hoods either. Good job I have a good head of hair to help me keep warm.
Not having to wear a hat is such a relief. I didn't have a veil and so far nor does Victoria. Not sure what Elizabeth's style is going to be.

Sbg, our daughter has a colleague who was due to get married last Boxing Day but Covid restrictions put paid to that. She finally got wed a few weeks ago and had hired her wedding dress, rather like hiring a Prom dress, as she and her now husband wanted to put the money she would have spent on a wedding dress towards refurbishing their house!

I'm with you on the hats,as they just don't look right on me, so I wouldn't wear one either ! :o)
So pleased to hear both Elizabeth and Victoria have a happy future ahead of them, and are able to follow their dreams,re their careers :o)

Congratulations to both your girls, I wish them every success in their chosen careers and hope all goes well with their plans for their big days.. I wouldn't wear a hat either , lol...

Agree about not wearing hats. I wore a fascinator for our son’s wedding (in Australia) but it was such a windy day that it flopped down one side of my head!

Hi Eileen, speaking of hats, have you seen my blog called "Flying Hats"? It's one of my first blogs. A hat defines a person's character and can say much about you. They aren't just a fashion accessory. I don't care for hats either. They make my head hot, but I'll wear one if the occasion calls for it.
