Babysitting!

I am babysitting my friends tortoise this week, its not the first time i’ve had him she bought him as a very small baby 2 years ago he’s certainly grown since then! I put him out in the garden this morning for a walk

Think he thought he was in the jungle!! he kept going towards the hedge too which i didn’t want, if he got into that i’d never get him out!! So i had to keep directing him the other way.

Don’t know what he thought of the snail, didn’t take much notice of it going towards the hedge again!

After a good look round i put him back in his ‘box’ where he has a little house and a special light. He’s been very good LOL
I am in the process of printing off a photo and am going to send it to her house so that when she comes back she has a ‘postcard’ from Theo the tortoise!! (yes i know i’ve never grown up and nor shall i!!!)

I like tortoises - there was a time when 'they' were banned for import, wasn't there - where do people get them from now? Do you know?

So these are now British tortoises, born and bred! That's good news. At least they are still available as pets.

What a handsome fellow in his smart shell. I always wanted a torty when I was a kid. Never got one though.

What a beautifully marked tortoise SK...really stands out. Like Swanky mine was a dull brown colour many years ago...Churchill his name was. We used to put him down at the top of the garden & go back indoors to guess how long he'd take to get to the end...panicking if he went out of sight! It's amazing how fast they can go!
I have the same snail as you!
Seems many of us had tortys as children if we were lucky but they're not so easy to come by now.
Thank you...lovely blog.

Very pretty tortoise. I wonder what sort it is? They are very determined little creatures and if they want to go somewhere they will find a way :)

Your tortoise looks like a Hermans : they become darker as they get older.
