February skies for Severnside and trees for Karen and Terra!

I was thinking this morning how lucky I am to be able to see so many trees from our windows, and how I’d hate not to be able to see so much sky! So my usual not-very-good-photos, but am sharing them with you anyway. :))

Looking to the side from the lounge:

View of the front garden from my computer:

Looking up the back garden from the patio doors:

The view from the kitchen window which you’ve seen before. A heron just glided down into the field at the back – just missed him!

Nothing very special, but it’s nice to keep in touch, lol.

oh, no I can't agree Sheila...this is 'very' special indeed! I notice from your neighbours houses that the buildings are from a period in time where having a decent size plot was considered important...lovely! And the view from the kitchen window....how do you ever get any washing up done? :))

Oh wow - you are all so kind! Thank you Gill, Terra, Sheilar and Severn - and Karen, well it does make doing the washing-up less of a chore to be able to look at the view, lol.

Just booked tickets for the Malvern Spring Flower show . . . anyone else going??

I too love trees, there is something so calming and timeless about them, in the 3rd photo theres a lovely small weeping tree in the lawn is it a cherry?

Hi Pam . . . no, it's a weeping birch (Betula pendula 'Youngii' to you and me!). Often recommended by the experts for small gardens, and one of the first things we bought 33 years ago. The birds love it too.

Oh I have to agree with others comments, our trees that we look at from our homes are very special, especially if we have been there a long time, we get to know them and what lives in and around them.
They are lovely pics Sheila...

Thank you very much Lincs - you're right. I once visited a dear old chap in a residential Home nearby: living in one room, but he said "I'm so lucky, because I have a tree to look at from my window." Such a positive attitude. :))

Thank you Paul, but the heron would only have been a speck in the distance!

Your garden is very special Sheila , not only because of what you can see but what's in your minds eye ,the hidden gems biding their time before making an appearance, you know they are there , slumbering on sleeping until the time is right making you smile when they bloom .. the trees are a delight and you are lucky to have them in your garden and all around you , I love the gentlemans attitude in the home what a lovely man he must be :o))

Some lovely photos Sheilabub...what a lovely day it look too!
I probably couldn't tell one tree from another but I do appreciate a great view and it looks lovely :)

Lovely open airy views! Doesn't a bit of sunshine make such a difference at this time of year! Makes the heart sing!

Thank you for your lovely comments Hywel, Scottish and Nariz. Yes, Nariz, seeing the sunshine is so cheering!

Sheila there is nothing wrong with your photos, what I would give to have a view like that, no houses overlooking you, no ugly sheds or carports to hide, I would even do away with the dishwasher, so I could spend time looking out at that beautiful view!!
Thanks for showing us your lovely garden.

Thanks Dotty! It's "swings and roundabouts" isn't it . . I'd love to be near the sea, like you. :))

You wouldn't like all the houses surrounding you, very built up in the South unfortunately. There is some beautiful countryside around, but so expensive!! that is why so many footballers live in the south.!! they can afford to !!

22 Feb, 2012

Believe it or not Dotty, when we moved here I didn't like "all the houses" surrounding us!! We'd come from a little cottage in deepest Gloucestershire, surrounded by farm land and orchards, with the river a quarter of a mile away. Before that, a tiny chalet in the mountains in Switzerland . . . no, I'll stop there. You don't need my life story, lol. :))
