Pots for Wells

Towards the end of last year, Wells/Posy wrote a blog about Pots which I have only just found(!) . . . always quick off the mark, lol. So she has inspired me to find some of my own.

Many years ago (many MANY years ago) I enjoyed going to pottery classes. On the right is one I made using the slab technique, and then pressed a fern leaf into the clay – I think it was thought to be quite an original idea then :) On the left one I bought from a craft fair made by the Raku method.

Son Mike gave us the LH one which is from Mexico; the other a little Waterford vase with dried Hydrangea ‘petiolaris’.

On left, a decoupage vase, so the sweet peas are not real.

In this line-up there are two chunky pots in lovely ochre colours, thickly embossed – the one towards the left with dragonflies and bees – from a Suffolk potter.

Soon I should have some flowers to put in them :))

What a wonderful cllection, but I think my favourite is the one you made with the fern in such lovely muted shades.

Yes - your pot is my favourite, too, Sheila! I loved Wells's blog, and thought I'd do a "pot blog" myself, but I never did. And you have! It's lovely.

Sheila...I finally got to your blog. Thanks for doing it. i have found that the containers are very interesting as they speak of the kind of gardens people have or don't have. It is a bit of a challenge to get them together and actually take the pics. But I found it very revealing. I loved yours, they are so individual, yet I see a very sensitive vein running through. I sound like a Psycho-something or rather. i am not. i am struggling with a new camera that does not like to post into GOY.

I have not seen any other posts like ours. thanks for doing yours. Posy

That's a lovely comment Posy - thank you - I like it! I used to collect jugs, so I wonder what that says about me? And I STILL collect bookmarks, so that's hardly difficult to analyse :)

Sorry the new camera is giving you problems.

I've just come across this blog Sheila! I love your collection of vases particularly the one with the Agapanthus - I've got one very similar with light and dark blue Agapanthus flowes and small butterflies flying through the design... A thoughtful gift from a male friend...! :o)

What a great idea for a blog!I really enjoyed the collection. I think your fern vase is wonderful - would love to try my hand. Must check out Wells' blog now. I share her problem of trying to post photos on GOY. Eldest son is buying me a smart phone for my birthday and assures me that I will have no problems with that. I can't wait!
