Cowslip meadow

I went for a stroll a few days ago with my ‘wild flower’ group. Apparently it’s a good year for cowslips, and we saw thousands, stretching to the horizon.
There was a lovely tree with white flowers which none of us could name. So I’ll probably put those photos on Questions, in the hope that it can be identified.
Hope you’re all enjoying this glorious sunshine. Might see some GoY members at the Malvern Spring Show on Friday?! What fun.

Thanks Paul. Have to smile . . . I went back today to take the photos; last week on our walk we had wild winds, lashing rain and my umbrella was smashed!

Wow, what fun! (wink). I've had umbrellas ripped from my hand several times - even my big golf umbrealla! Never saw that one again.

Someone was actually selling cowslips on the Facebook local For Sale page. Around here it's been a good year for primroses also.

Thanks very much Karen, Terra and Thrupence :)
I've been told that the tree is Prunus padus, aka bird cherry.

How lovely and that tree is standing out beautifully in all its glory, there are a lot of cowslips and wild primroses around here, all along the verges and in the nature reserves, my neighbour literally has hundreds of them growing in her lawn, muggins didn't find out until after buying some off the man on the market, I wanted some for my stumpery, when the flowers go over she has told me I can go over and dig a few out if I want some more....

Lincs - in our last house I had cowslips growing all over the lawn, and was always digging them up and giving them away. Now (with new, empty garden) my friends are doing the same for me!
