Just a few not-very-good photos to show some (slow!) progress in our new garden.
Lots of bare earth; will soon be getting some plants in.
waiting for a home . . .
Acer Osakazuki . . . recommended by Sam, our landscaper, who said he puts one in every garden he builds. Brilliant autumn colour apparently :)
Exochorda The Bride, bonsai almost flowering!
Acer ‘orange dream’
These pots from our old garden are all in a jumble, but will find their new spot soon.
Hope you’re all enjoying this glorious weather :)

You're right Karen, we're lucky that our new garden is pretty sheltered, and yes, it will be great to get planting soon. We just need to improve the soil a little! I do have three or four other Acers - just have to decide whether to keep them in their pots or plant them in the soil. (I've added masses of ericaceous compost to the ones planted so far.) Sorry you're having to deal with cold winds, but you're obviously on the case!

Your grass looks a dream. It will set your plants off a treat.

Thanks Siris - it will. It had its first cut yesterday and seems to have rooted very quickly:)

Really, really love everything about it.

What a joy it must be just to sit with coffee and a good read - maybe have a couple friends over.

Lovely comment Paul, and it's exactly that. A few friends even came yesterday, and there'll be more soon . . . they're interested in seeing the result :)

Sheila, that is looking wonderful, even without the planting! A lovely design ... not long before you can get your plants in ... :o)

Thanks Shirley! My gardener/friend will be here Friday, ready for a good spell of planting. I do hope it won’t rain too much as she’s then away in Greece for two weeks . . . somehow OH and I will manage . . .

It all looks so neat and perfect. A great project.

Oh Sheila, isn't everything coming together? You must be so please.

.... and it all looks so lovely and tidy. Acers come into their own In Autumn and they really do add a splash of colour. We are fortunate that we live near a big Acer Nursery that supplies wholesalers but also sells to the occasional purchaser.
Will check with OH is we have "yours". They make great Bonsais.

Many thanks Linda. Yes, Julia, we are delighted with the 'look'. You're right Eirlys, thank you, I do love Acers (think I have seven!).

You've managed to design a great garden,Sheila! It looks pretty impressive even though there are still a lot of plants to go in. Congratulations! ??

Thank you Balcony - not my design though! I wanted to tap the imagination of a professional, and he listened to my thoughts about having a relaxing, informal atmosphere that I could meander around in. I shall invite him back to see it in a few weeks time . . .

I find Osakazuki a bit of a disappointment here. I think its just too windy. But I’m persevering with it in the hope that it will gain in strength! Orange dream is lovely! I bet you can’t wait to get all those lovely plants in. I’ve had to remove three Escallonias today...casualties of the winter winds. I’m having to find tougher plants all the time since we moved here. Oh well. Your garden on the other hand, looks warm, sheltered and well protected. :)
