Autumn comes early . . .

. . . on a sunny September morning. Just wanted to share the glorious colours of my Amelanchier, which was only planted in May this year.

First, the view from the living room

Amelanchier

Amelanchier with purple and pink flowers including Salvia Love and Wishes, Penstemon ‘apple blossom’, Salvia viridis pink sundae and Penstemon Frederick Hahn.

Pink and white Cosmos still going strong

New Caryopteris (for Janey!)

Acer Ozakazuki

As you can see, photography is not my forte . . . I prefer gardening!

Looks good, Sheilabub. Your Amelanchier certainly likes the spot you have chosen for it.

Thanks Waddy and Eirlys. I guess I was lucky that our landscaper, Sam, offered to get it for me, so not only did I reap the benefit of his trade discount, but he bought the most magnificent specimen I’d ever seen :)

Funny you should say that Sheila...I was just saying today that autumn seems to be early this year. I hope that doesn't mean a cold winter. Time will tell. Your amelanchier looks beautiful. :)

It's all looking good. Amazing how quickly a garden can look settled, as though it has been there for ages, when really it is recently planted.

Thanks Feverfew. I think having two mature trees has really helped the garden to not look too new.

Thank you Dawn, it’s been an exceptional summer:)

Yes Sheila, exceptional in many ways, who would have thought it after the awful start to the year. It's hard to believe the transformation of your garden in a matter of months.

Thanks Dawn . . . being only about 60’ by 40’ helps!

Your Amelanchier is fabulous Sheila! Hasn't it done well, even with all the high temperatures this summer?? It's such a lovely tree, leaf colour and so many blossoms in Spring...if I had room I would treat myself..ha ha!
I love Caryopteris too such a pretty blue....your treat from the GC? Butterflies love them, and I can see this under planted next year with swan river daisies..:))
It all looks smashing, well done you!

Maybe you could treat yourself to an Amelanchier shrub, Janey? We brought one with us when we moved (now in the front garden) and it’s only 3ft tall.

Yes, Caryopteris from the GC as they had no Perovskia . . . and your daisies will be perfect at its feet! Many thanks:))

Sheila when I think how new your garden is I think it is looking fabulous, Amelanchier is a huge favourite of mine, this year they are certainly doing us proud, the colour of my one in the garden is the best its been for years, hanging on to its leaves as well, long may it last.. I enjoyed my stroll down your path...
