Not very much to see yet ...

… but I took my camera out anyway. We recently had a good trip to Ayletts GC to buy some stones.

Then I also saw lovely Anemone coronaria, so that will be planted out as soon as possible; shown with a small Heuchera and Dianthus in the greenhouse.

There are a few primroses flowering, plenty of Hellebores, and a few snowdrops and crocuses, but I couldn’t get a good photo of them (typical!). So I shot these Leucojum instead.

What a pathetic blog! Stay warm if we really do get snow next week, and let’s hope a sunny Spring is on the horizon :)

not pathetic Sheila , there's hardly anything I can post yet , especially as it's been depressingly dull for a week . They're lovely stones , are they the rainbow named ones as few years ago I bought some to cement a path of them. Lovely plants too

You’re very kind, Paul, thank you 🙂. I don’t think the stones have a name but I do like the subtle colouring.

Do you know, Sheila, I was thinking today as I stared out at my cold and uninteresting garden, "Why do I bother?" I've felt like that for a while. At least you have made the effort to post some pretty photos! I can't work up much enthusiasm at all, and I suspect I am not alone as there is very little being posted on here..
Your anemone is a very pretty one. Where are you going to place your decorative stones?

Sheila,Love the Anemone...I always associate them with growing up in Cornwall...we use to grow them in the field behind our family home.Have you grown them before?

Thank you Ange, yes it has been tricky lately summoning any enthusiasm. Some of the stones will go with the grasses on the ‘cobble’ bed at the back of the garden, and a few on the small raised bed which is now covered in gravel and waiting for a Lewisia and a few alpines.

Thanks Julia, I love Anemones too, but don’t think I’ve grown this type before.

Definitely not pathetic!!!! It's nice to catch up with what you've been up to this week.
I've this anenome too, Sheila. It was planted last year. It was shooting up quite well last month. I noticed this afternoon. It has shrivelled in the recent cold temperature...hoping it'll resurge as the weather improves.

lovely blog and the gardens are slowly waking up. I've spent 10 hrs over the weekend getting some of the weeds out.

your anemone is gorgeous. Love soft lilacs. The leucojums are beautiful and mine are also flowering.

Those a really pretty stones Sheila, I can imagine how vivid they'll be when it rains, not that we want to think about rain right now, but summer rain..:)
I too love the anemone, such a beautiful colour. That reminds me I've had a bright pink one for years that only ever has one flower in spring, I wonder why? Yours looks to be very healthy and full of life!

Kate, thank you, I’m encouraged to hear your Anemone is hardy … lovely to find a variety that flowers so early.

Thanks Eileen … you have been working hard. I love lilac colours too, and hope to find more plants in that shade.

Janey, thank you, so glad you like the stones. I also had a bright pink anemone last year that I loved, so hope it will appear again. I’m getting in deep with anemones now!

You are! In spring and autumn..

THanks for posting what you have. I too like your stones & anemone. I grew quite a few of the short ( De Caen) sort of Anemone once but they seem to have gradually disappeared. Will have to get some more. They used to be popular at one time. Grown in Cornwall & sold in all the florist shops. Nowadays one only sees the taller sort sold as cut flowers.

Thanks Josee … they have such a great variety don’t they.

Lovely blog Sheila even if it is short!
But this time of year there isn't much to show !

Exactly Rose … thank you 🙂.

Shot it may be, but I enjoyed seeing your colourful stones, along with the plants.

As the weather is so inclement for gardening (for me anyway!) this week I have been deleting photos from my 'Garden' section on GoY, dating back to 2010, when I first joined! Mind you, there are still many for me to view when I need a refresher of how the garden has looked over the years.
