Went to the Annual Plant Fair at Leckford Estate, Longstock today, an event which has a wide range of interesting plants for sale by some of the online plant nurseries.
The estate is owned by the John Lewis partnership, in a beautiful environment at Longstock in the Test Valley. Longstock Park nursery on the estate holds a National collection of Buddlejas and Viticella Clematis and the Water Gardens are renowned.
The long border adjacent to the nursery
In the field to the right the Plant Fair ground
Plants of the moment seemed to be Geums and Large flowered Clematis.
Rather a cold day, to sit around and have a Hog Roast lunch so returned home with my purchases, see my garden entries/photos.
Oh, I bought a Geranium, the owner wrote a label but it’s illegible and I’ve forgotten its name, so if anyone knows it’s name that would be appreciated. It’s Geman bred, Geranium mac ‘Sch….prinz’.

Ery nice geranium. Similar to Bill Wallace. Sorry, don’t know the name. Hope its not a weed like Bill!

The Estate looks lovely. It would be a great place to work I imagine.

Karen I've swapped the photos, Bill Wallis as you say is the other Geranium, this the one with the illegible label.
The Water Gardens are beautiful, all little natural side channels of the River Test.

Hi siris can you add a photo of the label. I have had plenty of experience trying to decipher bad handwriting. you never know I might be able to make it out for you.
love good plant fairs. lots of fun.

Looks lovely, been on my list to visit and your blog has confirmed I need to go, like you I'm in Hampshire so no excuse not to go

Been meaning to go for a long time, glad you made it.....will ask my geranium experts if they know what it is....

It was the the brown foliage which caught my eye, and is similarity to one Karen recently pictured. The label says G mac which I now assume is maculatum although I put its label back in the Bill Wallace's pot whilst I was photographing for Gou. Sorry long explanation! Should have gone to Spec ...not funny when you've got ongoing eye conditions!

there is another one called Elizabeth Ann Sue. It might be that, or it might be Espresso. And another called 'Red Leaf'. I wouldn't be able to tell them apart I don't think. Geraniums are very hard to distinguish for me.

Lovely walled border, must look a picture later in the year and would love to see the water gardens.
Plant Fairs are a magnet, from the phrase "returned home with my purchases" in the plural, the Geranium wasn't the only plant you succumbed to! Very pretty one, strange how I too always manage to pick up the plant that has no label or one you can't read!
