First Photos 2020

I put a new memory card in my camera to start 2020, so had to take a few pics.
In our cool conservatory.
A couple of nearly ripe lemons on my Lemon Meyer, there are several others but they are still quite green. Also the plant is still flowering so there will be more fruits to come.
This flower on my Slipper Orchid first opened at the beginning of November, and now is fully open. Two months, I call that good value.
In the wall tub behind the above, a yellow Cymbidium Orchid has 2 large flowering stems This is always the first Cymbidium to start flowering, also doing so in November.
In the front garden against the bungalow wall a Fuchsia microphylia with masses of tiny flowers.
I planted out the Coronilia Valentina subsp. glauca ‘citrina’ at the base of my Trachelospermum to hide its bare base stem. A bit of pruning again after it has finished flowering, to regrow thicker and bushier, job done.
It has now started to flower in earnest despite being pruned initially whilst still small and I’ve several rooted cuttings awaiting potting on.

The Slipper Orchid is the bomb! How long does it last? Great show.

What a colourful start to your 2020 photo collection, and all looking so healthy too which must be gratifying given that the days are still so short and grey, I take my hat off to you, Siris. :-)

Your conservatory looks great - you must be tempted to spend too much time in there just looking! I'd love a Coronilla but don't think it would be happy here. It must be very mild where you are Siris - Fuchsia flowers in January!!

well that is a happy new year isn't it. Both of the orchids are beautiful. I used to have one of those fuchsia but lost it in the harsh winter of 2011. Must think about replacing it.
Never had any success with lemons. Love yours.

Lovely to see so much colour in January, particularly the beautiful Coronilla 🙂.

Thank you all for your kind comments.
DAWN, That Lemon treeis is about 6 ft tall including its tub now, also got 2 Calomondine Orange Trees of about the same size, one a cutting from the first, the oranges are small and bitter, ok for drinks or cooking.
KAREN, I do like my Orchids, I've 3 more Cymbidiums of different colours and 2 more, which have not flowered yet since buying from Madeira
BATHGATE, Its the first winter for the Slipper Orchid, the flower should last another month, making that three months in total.
STERAGRAM, I don't spend much time in the conservatory in the winter. There are tubular heaters in there for frost protection, but then there is condensation off the ceiling. It has been quite mild, but very wet here this year. We have had some frosts though.
SEABURNGIRL, The Fuchsia is the only one left of several, I think because it is tight against the wall, so the soil keeps quite dry. I must do a reminder to take some cuttings.

I've never seen lemon and orange trees in this country except little ones in supermarkets!
These mild conditions cant last can they?

Dawn, I bought the Citrus trees from a garden centre years and years ago. they were initially quite small, probably no more than 1ft.

My Citrus tubs are on round 3 wheeled-caster trolleys. We wheel them to the patio door in summer and between us lift them over the threshold so they get a summer holiday outside.

You’ve done well to keep them going, they must love their summer hols
