a very brief trip

hello all..i thought id post a few pics of a recent two day trip to Tallinn in Estonia to see a colleague. It wasnt my first trip but this time i had an opportunity to take some pictures as I booked a 3 hour walking tour.

I met my guide, Age, in the market square after she had emailed me earlier asking if id mind if she brought her 2 month old baby along.

I enjoyed pushing the ‘stroller’ as I explained I wanted to see some residential architecture given I build timber buildings..

She took me to the region where she lived, an old eastern block suburb which was very interesting

Age was most informative about buildings and gave me a lot of information about land prices and building costs..even gardens and the culture of them in Estonia..

we ended the tour in an old Russian warehouse which is now a trendy restaurant..

her knowledge of the city inspired me to take a few more pictures of the various gardens and parks i saw as i walked back to my hotel..i felt as though id walked all over Estonia by the time I got back..lucky i had booked a massage so it was all worth it..

Its a lovely city with lovely people, I was made very welcome and enjoyed my short break..hope you enjoy my pictures

What a beautiful place. The market square could be anywhere in Europe. As I read further down, I could see it could not possibly be anywhere in Europe - the streets were not full up with parked cars. No yellow lines and no parking meters! It looks really old and well established, I love those avenues of trees and the pleached limes (don't like the sticky stuff though) The last two photos could be either somewhere in France or maybe a view across the rooftops of Florence. Loved your blog, so interesting.

Truly lovely. So enjoyed looking through your photos. Everything looks so neat & clean, & has a real fairytale quality to the place. My favourite photo is the 3rd from the bottom. What a beautiful building & picturesque location.

I enjoyed your pictures of Estonia, thanks. I was to go there this year but didn't make it over but hope go to on my next trip to Europe. I've heard Tallinn is very beautiful and my brother liked one of the Estonians well enough to marry her and move there. Personally I couldn't bear 4 months of 4 feet of snow.

I have so enjoyed your blog, it reminded me of the best holiday we ever had in Moscow when it was a communist country - the difference being the cars we saw then were falling apart.
