You`ve got a CHOISYA !!!!!!!!!

This is a photo of my Choisya “Sundance” a lovely yellow evergreen shrub it was taken from the front bedroom window, shown here righthand side of pic, and was rather a nice specimen,

that is until the severe frosts of last winter got hold of it. So this spring I cut away all of the foliage and was left with just a “V” shaped stump – here it is to the left of picture by the fence.

I just didn`t have the umph to get the roots out at that time and am so glad now that it was left for some time, as you can see from the next pic it started sprouting new growth and is looking good.

On the same day as stripping Sundance I decided to prune my other Choisya “Aztec Perle”

and as I do from time to time I just popped a piece in the nearest available space and said ok then just do or die (you can tell that I am obviously a novice gardener) and here we are:-

A well rooted new plant – so it obviously did – it made its choisya.

I have Sundance as well, have had it for quite a number of years, and every year I chop it about and make it the shape I want and it never seems to mind. It does get a bit of frost burn every winter, but I just chop it all off.
Well done on getting the other one to root.

Do you think it was a Barnsley chop or a Chelsea chop Stroller.

I did just the same with a bottlebrush Stroller, chopped it right back but couldn't get the roots out, weeding the other day and its resprouted from the base, really didn't think it'd come back, a nice surprise after all the large shrubs I did loose.

Amazing isn`t it Simbad I`ve bought 2 bottlebrush at different times and both have died on me.
Got to be the Chelsea chop Grannyb, you can`t afford a Barnsley chop these days, at the butchers last week I rashly said 2 barnsley chops please, £7.95 gulp..............
Shirley, I got my neighbour Paul to dig it up for me this morning, I decided I didn`t like it - thats just typical of me.lol..

My Sundance Choisya has taken a lot of punishment over the years, as it grows so dominant and gets chopped back drastically. At the moment it's on stilts but is making new growth at the bottom. Not sure I want that. Just the top growth for privacy.

Both my green Choisyas have had a gentle hair cut today.....sticking out over the path to the garden shed. They are very pliable shrubs. They seem not to know when to stop flowering. Still thinking about what to do with Sundance. Top off and bottom allowed to grow up or what?
