Upside down runner beans....

This is going to sound really sad, but has anyone noticed how much a runner bean moves while it’s growing. After planting my beans way down the pot I have found most of them trying to get out again, and some even growing upside down. Now when I did biology at school many many moons ago I was taught that roots go down and leaves go up. I don’t think my runner beans were listening very well as you can see by the photos. Well can’t have everything!!

As you can see there are some growing normally and the marrows are doing fine.

This big fella has been driving florida mad all day. He keeps on landing on the fence and as she makes a run for him he just casually flies off.

My other main task for today was to make my old BBQ into some thing useful. It had been sitting down the bottom of the garden since the bottom fell out of it. So my hubby knocked out the whole of the bottom and welded the grill tray in it’s place and I now have some where to stand my pots. Should look OK when it’s had a lick of paint.

I now really ache after clearing out the pond too and I am now looking forwards to going back to work this week for a rest.

Oh I know how you feel Sue, but now I'm retired there's nowhere to go, except back for more digging!
Great use of the old BBQ, what a very useful husband.

Great re-cycling idea. I'm amazed at your upside down bean. LOL.

Beans doing a runeer? Perhaps this is why they are so-called? Lovely, healthy plants, btw. :-)
