Waiting for topsoil!

Hi all Teds here! I have a hour or so to kill before some four tons of topsoil arrives so I thought you may like to see some of the work we did in the bungalow over the last year. All the stripping out and decorating we did ourselves and Paul my hubby built the arches and cupboards in the garden room, and considering he had never tackled anything like this before I was very proud of him. We salvaged the glass for the back of the alcoves from some old wardrobes that we had dismantled from one of the bedrooms.
The last picture is part of the garden that leads out from the kitchen; the soil is clay here and on a slope so Paul has had to build raised beds for veg and cutting flowers. The beds have been finished now, hence the topsoil and compost that is arriving today. We hope to get the soil in the beds at the weekend and get the seed potatoes in, just hope the weather holds out or we could have a very muddy drive!!!!!!!.

If I had know at the time just how much work, blood sweat and tears (I had a few) I think I may of elected to of stayed in our nice new house with its manageable little garden. We decided to move as we got the bungalow at a good price, owing to all the work that needed doing. It was the garden that sold it to me so much space it was my dream come true. We hadn't realized just what we had taken on until we uncovered yet more garden under all the brambles. We are going to have to have a gardener to help me as my arthritis is bad from time to time, but I'm loving seeing the garden come back to life. When I'm down in the dell with the birds tweeting and the squirrels leaping through the old oak trees, I think it has been worth all the work. I'm so looking forward to this summer now most of the clearance work has been down. Now for the pretty bit lol

Wow! Hats off to you and OH...fantastic jobs! Love the living and garden rooms, and the archway in the kitchen is a huge improvement! Gosh, I'm glad we don't need to do major work like that here. I don't think I have the energy for it nowadays. We did three major building jobs on our first home, and they were all exhausting...and that was with tradesmen doing most of the work! Good luck with the topsoil...get those tatties in! :))
