Electrical storm explosions ... but we are okay

How horrible for you. We have had some storms and had three power cuts in the past two weeks but nothing doing permanent damage. I do hope the dogs were not too frightened by all the noise. I'm glad you have a friend who will let you use her computer even if for only a short time. Hopefully you will be back to normal soon. If this is the sort of weather we can expect in the future we may all need to be getting advice on protecting our computer equipment. Take care and hope we'll see you back soon.

Sounds really awful TT. It is really difficult when we have to manage without technology. We have had trouble with our car and life has been very difficult without it. We have been very nice to it now it is back. :0))

That must have been scary, hope the dogs weren't too scared by it all. Glad your all ok and hope your back up and running soon. Its amazing how much we miss the computer/internet when it stops running (for whatever reason).

poor u Terra...so scary for you. hope the dogs are fine..we had a lightning strike a tree outside our house a few years back blew up everything that was plugged in. hope you are back up and running soon..xx

Terra it was grand, we were near Scarborough house and dog/cat sitting for one of my nieces until her parents returned from their hols to take over, its a beautiful area as you probably know and both our new friends were very well behaved considering they hadn't met us before, a young male tabby just over 1yr old name of Milo and a 10mth old black/lab named Max already showing signs of being a large lab, you can imagine what its like at playtime in that house and garden .....

Great fun being pet sitters ... and I'm guessing you did such a good job, you're likely to be asked again !

That must have been a frightening experience for you, TT! About the same time I also had an outage on my computer! Strange as it was only my computer that was affected! It is plugged into a 4way extension lead that's supposed to be surge protected, it should have stopped the surge that shut down my computer & our internet hub as they are plugged into the same extension. Even stranger was that the standard lamp by my side DIDN'T go out yet it's plugged into the same lead! I didn't even notice it blink! But that may have been because my attention was fixed on the computer screen & the sudden black screen startled me & I didn't see it go off & come on almost immediately.

I think it's time I got myself a new surge protected extension as this one obviously no longer works as designed.

Glad you got back on line quickly & no-one was hurt. :-))

During a storm it's remarkable how specific items of electrical equipment suffer while others don't.

Some neighbours had lots of damage ..
TV, phones, computers ... in other houses the storms had no detrimental effects at all !
