Heathers ... their hair styles in my winter gardens

Heathers … spectacular, sparkling, dazzling …
… curly and spiky haircuts …
… dreadlocks and platinum blondes …
… purple streaks and pink highlights …
… neat crimps, and high bouffants …
… every year … remarkable, stunning styles.
Young Neptune likes heathers … he tries to eat their flowers
He’s rehearsing for his first-ever St Andrew’s Day
Wishing everyone a wonderful week …
…enjoy your heathers and their hair styles …
… and wave your favourite flags…

Terratoonie:
I love your white rock river bed. It really sets off the different colors...ideas!! Neptune is a champ!

Hi Bathgate ... thanks ... the white rock river bed was easier to make than I had imagined... I sort of designed it as I went along... Neptune is waving flags to you across the ocean !
27 Nov, 2017
LOL he makes the ocean seem like a little splash puddle.
27 Nov, 2017
ha ha ... he has a Stars and Stripes flag too.

Neptune has grown into a beautiful dog. Lovely photos, thank you.

Thank you Feverfew... I'm pleased with Neptune... he loves doing trick routines, and he is very 'pretty' ... and he has a nice nature.

Your heathers are lovely TT and it's nice to see them flowering in the dead of winter :)
Neptune is very handsome x

Thanks Hywel ... over recent weeks, next door's huge tree dumped thousands of leaves on my lawns, borders and plants ... I've had to spend hours in my chilly gardens, picking off individually all the wet, cold fallen leaves .. took me ages ... week after week ... back-breaking ! .. But worth it, to enjoy seeing my heathers over the winter, and making sure my rockeries didn't suffocate under the weight of uninvited dead, damp foliage.
Neptune helped by eating a few leaves... x

What a nice selection of heathers you have Terra. None of ours are out yet. Its a joy to see how well Neptune is turning out - well done you!

Hi Steragram ...
I'm fortunate to have heathers in my gardens flowering from autumn onwards... very pretty colours ... and, yes I'm so very lucky to have Neptune.

Hi Gnarly... thank you !

Your lovely garden always looks so brilliant, TT! I love all the heathers & I've leant a little about hairstyles as well!
It's so heart-warming to see your lovely helpers "posing" for their photos & even waving the flag!
You are very imaginative, TT, & your blogs are always a lot of fun to read! I'm, (& I expect all other Goyers), so pleased to see you posting blogs more frequently once again! Have a lovely week!

Thanks Balcony for your lovely comments ...
yes, my helpers keep me active and positive ..
I'm sure next year your balconies will look as good as ever, and you'll be creating your own 'plant hairstyles' ..
... maybe ringlets, plaits and ponytails !

Lovely selection of Heathers. Neptune is a beautiful dog. I'm not surprised he needs his own 'kneeling mat' for the garden on these frosty mornings.
28 Nov, 2017
Hi Siris... thanks ... all heathers are wonderful aren't they ... such variety of colours ... Neptune says thank you for your kind words ... yes... definitely the season for kneeling mats !!
28 Nov, 2017
I do like the way your river of white meanders around your heathers :) Your garden is a picture x

Thank you, Hywel ... I very much appreciate the kind comments relating to my blogs, gardens and pets x x x

Thanks Callie 1914 and Lincslass ...
I'm glad you like my heathers blog ...
Neptune is pleased too !

Terra, you have some really attractive varieties of Heathers in your garden. Tell me, do you give them a light trim when they have finished flowering?
Neptune is a gorgeous dog ... wonderful colours!
28 Nov, 2017
Hi Shirley... thank you ... Neptune certainly has very pretty colours in his coat... I'm lucky to have him.
Yes, I usually trim off the dead heather flowers ... just a gentle shaping ... no skinheads or crew cuts !
28 Nov, 2017
A lovely blog and photo's Terra..and Neptune is doing a good job in enhancing your Heathers..even if he does try to eat them ! :o) x

Hello Bloomer ... thank you ...
Neptune, given the choice, would pose in all of the photos .. ha ha .. x x x

Terratoonie:
Your garden looks spectacular! I'm still dealing with heat-scorched plants this last week.
I wish my garden could look so manicured! :>))
29 Nov, 2017
Hi Delonix ... thanks ..
we've had lots of rain recently ...
absolute opposite to your dry heat in San Diego !
29 Nov, 2017
Wonderful imaginative blog, Terra.
A heather garden looks so colourful & fresh in winter I think, I used to have one in a previous garden with chocolate & orangy types too, but that might not be so good in your garden as the handsome Neptune might think they were camouflage for him, lol :)
30 Nov, 2017
Hi Green finger... thanks...
chocolate/orange heathers sound fabulous.... but ... yes... could be confused with Shetland Sheepdog colours !

Terratoonie:
Please send us some much-needed rain. LOL!
The long-range forecast here is for warmer than normal temps and DRY! :>((

Delonix :
this week, some parts of the UK can send you SNOW ...
I hope this helps your thirsty plants !
1 Dec, 2017
Today we had rain, snow & near freezing temps all day. In this corner of the UK we don't have very much water left over either. Where I live is the driest region of the country but as far as you are concerned it would probably seem like a monsoon!
1 Dec, 2017
We have had rain, rain, and just for a change more rain.
The variety has been with the temperature - today it was very cold rain but I did see a wonderful rainbow on the cliff face - the nearest I have ever been to the end of one (but couldn't dig for the gold as it was in the sea...)
1 Dec, 2017
Nowadays the weather worldwide does seem to have more extremes ... heat, drought, floods ... and to a lesser extent, our gardens and plants have to cope with these conditions ... quite a challenge at times ..
Stera ... keeping searching for that pot of gold ...
2 Dec, 2017
Not diving for it for anybody though!

Terratoonie:
After last winter's pretty good rains here it's starting off very dry this season. Luckily, last winter's record high snow pack in the Sierra Mountains filled the reservoirs in Northern California.
