This was the garden I posted a short blog about a while ago, when I saw their website. It was every bit as gorgeous as the pictures on the site showed.
The front garden is Lyn’s domain and superbly “country cottage” in nature, chock full of plants and colour.

They built everything themselves, paths and obelisks and even the Well!

Malcolm’s garden, very much tropical/spanish feel

I love how they shaped this tree!

The Datura tree was wonderful, one of several which live in the conservatory during wintertime. Im determined to try to keep mine growing (a prezzie from Meanie) cos would love it to look like this.

A great idea from Malcolm in disguising his greenhouse with this moorish style trellis.

Even the apex of the greenhouse was embellised..it was ages before I realised it WAS a greenhouse!

Lyn and Malcolm made us very welcome and during a cloudburst made us comfortable in their conservatory with coffee and delicious scones and jam.
Lyn also told us that when building the obelisks, they had the great idea of making the ball decoration on the top from plumbers ballcocks!!
It was a stunning pair of gardens in less space than we have and we shall remember this visit for a long time to come.

Will go and look at their website later but dont think I will need to after seeing all these fab photos. What a delightful garden and what a wonderful holiday you have had Tet. Dont think my hub. would have visited so many gardens at a time, bless him, we would have had to find a model shop or two for him to browse, Lol! Thanks for all your hard work in making these blogs. brill.

Thanks. It was only two days Grandmage and luckily OH loves gardens like me. Its also good exercise as I find I enjoy walking while having something to look at, but pounding the pavement bores me silly.

Lovely blog Tet, thank you. They must work hard in that garden! The planting is incredible! How is it in these gardens they get everything so immaculate - those lawn edges - so neat!
I loved the flowers in the front garden and I loved that datura.

They do work hard at it Sticki and both of them look very fit on it!
Im aiming to have a datura like that.. but first I must get it thru the winter!

29 Aug, 2011

Lovely garden Tet so you will me making more alterations next year!!.Bit less vivid blue though don't think that shade would suit you, your more Wedgwood, leave that colour to the Delphiniums & Gentians.lol

my goodness, what an incredible place, its just fantastic,

29 Aug, 2011

Oh it was Yorkie, and such nice folks. True Brian, Im not a fan of that blue personally, although it certainly had a Med. feel. Yes soft greens and browns and old golds suit me better, but Malcolm certainly carried it off well!

Beautiful gardens and they are so clever to be able to make things themselves.

Val the grass that took my eye was what was growing in the two pots

29 Aug, 2011

Yes, those as well Brian ! lol
Mind you I liked the blue grass in Margos garden as well.

29 Aug, 2011

Drat Brian, he did tell me what they were called..and Ive forgotten! But Im sure he said it came from Knolls Gardens and Grasses Nursery just down the road.
Glad you enjoyed it folks..when the blue grass gets bigger Val and I split it, I will earmarked a bit for you.
Ive been trying to take some cuttings of my clematis Countess of Lovelace without much success..Brian did you say you had problems with clems too? Praps I should have a word with Anchorman to see if he has any tips.

I'll look for the label for the grasses, I bought a young one for my little Woodland bed...they grow lovely into that shape, that's what drew me to them...

Just breathtaking,Tet..I don't know how I missed this..thank you for all the lovely blogs and pics on your short break..why can't my plants look as good as these ??
I pretend it could be the area of our country..maybe it is,partly..but I want them to look like this too.. I really enjoyed this..:o)

This is an amazing garden, Tet! ... So much to see in one blog ... it all looks so lush and healthy and colourful ... not keen on the bright blue either but I can ignore that easily! ... Thanks for sharing this ... :o)))))

30 Aug, 2011

Tetra...The grasses are Hakonechloa Macra Aureola...hope this helps...:))

31 Aug, 2011

Thanks Bloomer. I agree about everything looking so healthy, tho there were a few bits of mildew, compared with mine it was non-existent! Its hard to escape when a garden is full to bursting. Ive really been hit by blackspot on the roses and spend my time taking off infected leaves and getting torn to pieces at the same time!
Hi Shirleyt, lush is right! and everything so tall..talk about miracle grow!
You are very kind Crissue, I hope Brian picks up on that, he wanted to know. I have calmagrotis and sword grass and zebra grass dotted around so dont want more, but those grasses would fit Brian's garden to a "t"

31 Aug, 2011

You're very welcome..I only knew because I bought one a few weeks ago...:)))

31 Aug, 2011

Brilliant idea, isn't it for Malcolm to have his "hot" garden at the back, and Lyn to have her cottage garden at the front. My sister lives in Ferndown, so I asked her if she knew this garden . . . Yes, and she said their surname is Ovens, and Malcolm repairs ovens!

Love the Hakonechloa Macra Aureola - it is easy to split - and the greener variety (just H. Macra) is great too, and goes bronzish in the autumn.

Tho I dont really want more grasses, I did see a couple I liked on gardener's world this week! I might just squeeze in one or two more lol!

Just loved this Tet, and perfect photos as usual! There are such unusual designs going on here, but it all works so well, and the planting is amazing..What a great day out...\0/x

Just found this blog, wow amazing garden, the blue a little too bright for me, but it works well there, is this an NGS garden Tet? your pics are so good, an excellent advertisement lol the grass is a beauty we grow it and have done so for over 20 years, have just split it after all that time!! only because it was not getting any larger and we wanted to dot some around, have only recently bought another one, which turns red in the winter.

4 Oct, 2011

Not too far from you DD - Ferndown, just south of Ringwood and yes it is an NGS garden. That grass sounds good, what is it?
Flori, next time we mosey down south, we will ring you and all five of us can go down there. We went via Shepton Mallet but can always go down the M4 to pick you up.

Tet have just been on their web site, brilliant, must have been on at least an hour!!
The grass is Hakonechloa Macra Nicholas.
