Day Out

As the forecast was awful, and I’d finally finished with the dreaded marking the OH and I decided a day out was called for.
We set off for Whitby stopping for breakfast in York at Tescos, great value! and arriving just before 10.ooam. It was windy with a few spots of rain, but nothing too much. The OH bought the obligatory Kippers, can’t stand the things myself, and we enjoyed a walk on the front etc. Cup of tea in the Whistle Stop cafe, then back to the car for the next leg.
We drove on to Scarborough, but by now the wind had really got up and the spots of rain had changed to heavy showers, so a drive on the front and past Valley Gardens was the extent of the visit. On to Thornton Le-Dale. We hit some pretty hefty showers on the way, with part of our originally planned route under water.
Once we arrived in this pretty little village, we had a couple of delicious sandwiches and tea in lovely little tea room with bakery attached. Also felt forced to buy some chocolate from the Chocolate Factory, which I shall enjoy later tonight lol. The OH wanted a look round Matthewson, the Classic car sales. Nothing of interest this time, but we’ll keep looking (he’s after an Austin 7). so after a little wander round the village(weather now much kinder, with the sun actually making a brief appearance) we set off again.
The plan was now to head for Beverly, the OH never goes by direct routes, far too boring. Unfortunately, the weather had other ideas. Further flash floods put paid to that idea, so we headed back towards Leeds. Passing a Garden Center on the way where I bought some Lupin and Foxglove seeds in preparation for next years display.
We made it to one of local hostelry’s around 5.30 where we shared a glass or two with friends, to be told the weather had been fine all day! You just can’t win some days can you?
Anyway, home for a shower and a take-away pizza, delivered to the door.
Well, we enjoyed the day, just hope the sun shines tomorrow
Hope you’ve all had a good day and I’ve not bored you too much. x

Sounds like our kind of day out, my hubby always takes what we now refer to as the scenic route but we have seen some wonderful places, my brother lives 5miles away from Scarborough so I know how lovely it is around there, pleased you enjoyed your day..

Goodness, I feel tired just reading about it! A grand tour - pity about the weather but you can't win 'em all.
