Rodent tale

Reading Mariek’s blog about rats reminded me of an incident in my late mother’s life. She used to keep lots of material etc up in the loft and my father continually moaned about it being a draw for rodents. One day mum went up there to find something and saw some mouse droppings and of course, immediately thought what great ammunition this would be for dad to make her get rid of her ‘stuff’.
Now dad used to visit his head office once a fortnight always on a wednesday so mum telephoned the council pest control department and arranged for a man to come on the next ‘suitable’ wednesday. He duly came, laid bait and said he would return in a fortnight which he did. The bait had been taken so he replaced it and said he would return each alternate wednesday until no bait was taken. A couple of visits later the wednesday came and went without a visit so mum thought he’d decided the problem was over. The next morning the doorbell rang, dad answered the door to a complete stranger who said ‘Oops, I’ve come on the wrong day!’
Mum had a bit of explaining to do, lol.

I wonder about the poor council worker's thoughts turned to after he left the doorstep. His reply was a bit suspect! lol

Glad you all enjoyed it! We had a good laugh about it at the time - luckily mum had told me about the mice while it was going on. The same as Sinbad, the pest controller had told her it was probably field mice come up the cavity wall for the warmth.

Lol Wagger :-)
We had mice in our loft too, we built our own house and one day not long after moving in noticed the dogs food box had been chewed in the utility room cupboard and droppings, called the council man who came back 3 times to refill the poison!!!! there must have been loads, we built in the winter time and he said they'd have been in the cavities before we even moved in,no skirting behind the cupboard so thats how they got in, could hear them in the walls and the loft, gave me the willies, no problems since thank goodness.
