Two nights in Porthcurno, Cornwall.

In a previous blog I included photos of the Minack, an outdoor theatre in Porthcurno.

We returned to the same part of Cornwall at the weekend and once again saw some very picturesque scenery and some sunshine!

The first photo is of Trerice House near Newquay. It is a Tudor mansion in an attractive garden. It was used in the Inspector Linley television series a number of years ago.

The next photos are of a pretty cove called Penberth where numerous scenes from Poldark have been filmed.

The Minack Theatre is such a beautiful place and the views are spectacular as is the theatre itself. Hope you don’t mind me showing more pictures of this lovely spot.

Came home to yet more cloud and rain so will finish with the garden in the gloom!

Photos are better and brighter when the sun shines – a bit like me!!

Beautiful scenery the cove reminds me of Mawgan Porth where frequently as a teenager when I lived by there. The sea is awful in winter.

I always find the story of how Rowena Cade built that theatre with her gardener inspiring. Such determination and hard work over her lifetime. Clearly she was something of an eccentric, but I like that. And her creativity was remarkable. The sheer hard graft of it as well. Lugging bags of sand up from the beach to mix her own cement! Who would do that these days? Incredible!

I am really pleased that these few photos have brought back happy memories for you all.
We have lived in Devon for nearly 40 years now and I like it here very much but I always feel more 'at home' when we cross the Tamar into Cornwall! Again it is probably because of happy childhood memories of holidays there.

Karen, that lady was truly astonishing because of her vision and her enthusiasm and energy - what a character!
We also visited Geevor Tin Mine Museum and to hear what those miners put up with every working day, for so little, it certainly made me think about tolerance levels today!

I did enjoy this blog, we've had wonderful holidays there in recent years, absolutely loved The Minack Theatre, sadly if I went there now my knees would not allow me to do the climbing..Thankyou W'rose...

Beautiful photo's. We lived in Cornwall for several years but strangely never visited Minack, but spent lots of time on the beaches and in the coves as my Son was small and all the rock pools fascinated him - he was so disappointed when we moved back to Norfolk to find acres of sand on the beaches but only a few had rock pools!

it looks wonderful. We once found ourselves driving past the Minack and I would have loved to stop but OH vetoed it - there wasn't time to explain what it was before we were well past. So thank you very much for the photos - I can appreciate what we were missing!
