May flowers

Lots of plants are enjoying the warming temperatures, with the occasional plunge into the winter. Yesterday it was in the low 70’s with sun and a high UV factor, today it is all fog and mist.

It is now mid-season for daylilies, and a couple that I am thinking of registering this year are open. First, Marseilles Watercolor x Full of Treasure. On the smaller side, only 4.5" across, but soft colors like a watercolor.

Also open is Sdlg x Michigan Nikki. It has a picotee edge with lots of ruffling.

A named daylily that is one of my favorites is from Armin Eder in Germany and is named ’It’s a real good Feeling’.

A nice double is ‘Catherine Hawn’.

There are two Crinum lilies open. These can get very large and are over a meter tall. One is pure white with a green throat, and the other is a pale pink.

Nasturtiums are one of those annuals that keep coming back, and can be invasive if not watched or eaten.

In the area of succulents, one that does well outside is Sedum japonicum ‘Tokyo Sun’. This has the combination of green and yellow foliage.

And just because I forgot to add them earlier, here are ‘Get Jiggy’ a good example of a patterned daylily.

This is one I got from Kathy (hope she is doing well) and took forever to settle in.

Also ‘Divine Light’ is opening. This is one of the larger ones, is very prolific, and will rebloom all summer long.

One that likes to grow on walls, looks great for 2 weeks and then is ugly for 50 weeks is this bright mesembryanthemum.

I'm so glad not to have to choose a favourite!¬ You must be thrilled to bits with them.

They are all so beautiful but my favourites have got to be pic 2 and 4, what are there names?

#2 is a cross with what should actually be Unk (I know which plant it is, but what it should be called doesn't match the registration photo listed for it) and 'Michigan Nikki' (one by Dan Hansen, 2010).
#4 is 'Catherine Hawn' (Stateler, 1994).

Lol thank you Wylie, I’ve added to my faves so if I ever see some I can come back and check.

Gorgeous photos of your beautiful flowers. I have three Daylilies kindly gifted by Simbad (Kathy) and sad to say she hasn't been on GoY since 2018. Hopefully she may return one day ... :o)

We had exchanged daylilies several times and I sent her seeds, so I think of her whenever one of them blooms.

Yes, I can understand that, same here ... :o)

You have some really beautiful Day Lilies, Wylie! The two Crinum lilies are really lovely!

The crinums are C. moorei, and later on the hybrid 'Ellen Bosanquet', which is dark red will open.
