A happy new year from me as well yorkshire. I must say that I love Germany too. May I just tell you of a funny incident that happened to me today...new years day, last night we had all the fireworks etc etc, so this morning I took a walk down to my datcha, me dressed in my wooly hat, big thick jacket, scarve and gloves and carrying a plastic bag from Aldi..really looking a big scruff, I was picking up all the wooden sticks from the spent rockets...they make wonderful sticks to tie plants on, well this fairly posh lady saw me and asked what I was going to do with them....I just told her I was looking for fire wood, I bet she thought "poor old sod", I had to laugh about it....sorry to be a little off topic.

Oh Yorks, you went on the same holiday as we did but we went in May last year, this is the hotel we stayed at, also the castles we visited, I did do a blog, amazing the difference in the snow, did you go on a 'great train journey holiday' by any chance? Wasnt the hotel suberb run by such a nice family, we also went up the mountain by the cog train and there was a lot of snow even at that time of year. Glad you enjoyed it, I know we did, your photos are lovely.

Absolutely wonderful,Yorkshire.So glad you made it ok,I kept thinking about you ,as transport was dire, the day you went.It was the same for us at the airport too,and we got on the plane with 5 minutes to spare..as you say,horrendous.!!..but you look as though you had a lovely time,and the scenery is breathtaking...Happy New Year...xx

Thanks Uma, and Milky, yes we did have a fantastic time,glad you liked the photos Helen, I.m sure you could paint the lake San, have a go, thank you Hywel, so glad you enjoyed looking at something different, as for you Rogi, well I have been trying to picture you looking like a scruff carrying your Aldi bag, bet it was so funny,hope you got plenty of rocket sticks, GMadge,I just can't believe we have been on the same Holiday, it was brilliant, and as you say the staff in the Hotel were wonderful, and yes it was Great Rail Journeys, have you been on any of the other holidays with them, don't know if I would recommend doing the castles in the snow, I have come home with a dead leg, having to use a walking stick, so glad you enjoyed the photos Neellan, Hi Bloomer so glad you made it for your holiday, kept thinking about you,you are so right the transport was dire but thanks to British rail staff they got us to London, they were wonderful,thank you Littlelegs, I am so pleased you enjoyed looking,

Yorks, this was our first hol. with GRJ. we went to see the passion play in Oberammagau as part of this holiday, amazing, however dont think we would do it again because of the lifting up and down of the luggage, nightmare! I panicked a bit especially when we had to 'run' to another platform to catch the next train. Did you stay one night in the 'Wasserturm' hotel in Cologne? How incredible that was! When we went to the castles it was pouring with torrential rain and we got soaked to the skin, I am glad we went but boy was it wet.

Gmage, we stayed at the four points hotel in Cologne, I know what you are saying about lifting the luggage, My OH orgonised the men to pass it off the train which made it so much easier for everyone,I admire you for running to catch the train, afraid I would have had to let it go, you don't get many minutes to get the luggage on and off, what a nightmare all that rain you had when you went to visit the castles.

I should ask Herr Google perhaps and not pester you, hee hee. We lived in Germany for a long time, but the flattest bit imaginable, where they said that you could see on Wednesday who was coming to tea on Sunday...
What I wouldn't have given for a hill, let alone all these mountains, lol.
