Phew, its complicated.. I dont think ill ever master this camera. The face recognition menu is about the only one i get good results with, but thats only point and shoot..

It takes pics like this…

Ive tried hundreds of times to take macro pics, but it just wouldn’t work, then today i accidently pressed a button and Wallah, I sussed it :) Im not that impressed tho….To tell the truth my old camera takes better closeups..

I took 112 photos this afternoon and only 6 were worth keeping, I know its not the camera, Its me :) Its finding the time and the motivation to sit down and master this!

The front garden borders filling out, I can’t wait to get the bedding plants in, maybe next week, Yippee. Hopefully..

Only one worth posting from the many i took in the back garden..

Gosh Youngdaisydee! CUTE Bubba!!! Your garden is sooo neat! There isn't a blade of grass out of place! And it's looking really lovely. Sometimes digital cameras are hard to make do what you want, I'd love to be able to make mine throw the background out of focus, but it seems not to want to do it! I think I need a lot more practice!

The first photo is stunning very clear, what a little cutie! The rest are fine too, thanks for posting them!

What a beautiful baby Youngdaisy, those beautiful blue eyes! I think you take an excellent photo...I must work out how to take better photos on my camera, I`ve been too lazy to spend time working it out! :o)

The Baby is my Nephew, Alfie. Those eyes :) So, im not the only one to not have a clue about cameras, The frustrating bit is, I know it could take fantastic photos..., You should see my night pics, Terrible :)
I know what you mean Libet about throwing the background out of focus, my other camera has the ability to do this, but i dont, even reading the instruction book is all foreign to me, iso's, light level, background noise, PUH..
Thanks Helenium, and Labdancer, I think im the same, Just Lazy..

Big, beautiful blue eyes and oh so bonny, gorgeous photo Youngdaisy, the others are very good as well, your gardens look a treat, I know what you mean about the bedding plants, the rain came just in time so I`ve started on mine as well..
I treated myself to a new camera in Jan, don`t mind admitting its taking some getting used to, thank goodness for digital, at least we can delete when we`ve messed up, not like the old days of film and disappointment after paying out and getting rubbish....

When there,s a special occasion in the family Linclass I take this camera because of the face recognition (Alfies christening) I hardly ever use it for the garden! My other camera is easier, but hub bought it for me to take better pics in the garden, thats why i tried it out today, Im just frustrated lol.
Im happy youv,e started planting your bedding plants, You have motivated me now :) Maybe at the weekend if this wind drops..

PERFECTION!! ALTHOUGH EVERY GARDEN HAS ITS OWN BEAUTY AND FLAVOUR, NEAT GARDENS ARE MY FAVORITES. CONGRATULATIONS.

I think this little fella will make some hearts melt as he gets older - such beautiful blue eyes.
The garden looks so well attended, even the pots look as if they`re standing to attention, you`re obviously very dedicated.

Thanks Coshad and stroller, I am dedicated Stroller, Its just easier on that side of the garden to have a few pots, That strip of garden is the shady part, we were going to build a raised bed there but i changed my mind, im aiming for a bit of low maintenance in my garden lol..

beautiful baby ~ and photo ~ surely if it can take one that good it can do macro?? what sort is it?
your garden is looking very good. there wasnt much wrong with that photo of the solomans seal ~ i dont think they are very easy to photograph anyway.

The first pic definitely has the 'Aah, he's gorgeous' factor, Youngdaisydee, such lovely eyes! Your border and lawn are looking great to me, no matter which camera you're using ... lol! : o ))

So cute is Alfie your garden looks lovely nice photos.

My camera is an Olympus E420 Stickietoffee, i only got a couple of good macro pics out of about 50, the rest were blurred, I know its something im doing wrong, its my fault :)
Thanks Shirley/sixpence, your so kind :)

:o))

Nothing wrong with your pics, smashing baby, and your new front borders look a treat, new cameras do take some working out, just trial and error. I just turn the dial for the shot I want, I do not use the complicated part lol

10 May, 2011

Do you have your on screen display on it should have a red indicator to say out of focus and green for in focus
You might just be slightly too close try holding the camera still and move very slightly back and forth a bit it will try to re focus and usually find a focus point .
Just keep playing you will soon get the hang of it
The gardens looking fab :o)))

looking good YDD...now that yours is finished do u think u could come and sort mine out...:-}

11 May, 2011

keep going with the camera, its not the same as mine so i cant help much, if you bought it from a camera shop they are often quite helpful and may be able to tell you.
the other thing im wondering is ~ sometimes you have to focus on the subject for a couple of seconds before the camera will focus itself ~ has to have a green rectangle in the centre for mine. light will also affect macro shots ~ they look blurry if its too dark.

11 May, 2011

alfie is adorable Dee and the garden pics are fab to, all looking great, your doing well with the camera, i find when doing macro not to zoom in or they can go blurred, just keep at normal and get quite close instead of zooming lol

11 May, 2011

i agree sanbaz ~ cant use zoom on my macro either.

Hi Youngdaisydee, type your cameras model name/number into YouTube and you may find some useful videotips there - that's what I did with mine.
You have a beautiful garden and your nephew's a crackin' lad.
Persevere! :-)

Thanks everyone for your comments and advice, Sorry for the late reply, i was at work untill 12 last night and work and shopping today..
I should try harder DD :) i find it easier to use my less complicated camera, point and shoot lol..
Good advice Mushy, i do have the onscreen display, SO thats what the flashing lights mean, Cheers.
Funny you should mention about the light stickitoffee, with macro setting as the flash was popping up and i was popping it back down!
HELLO Sandbaz, You back already? Hope you had a brill time and a great Tan. this camera seem'd to work better zooming in on the macro!!! Oh i dont know, stupid thing lol.
Good advice Muddy, ill deffo try that, thanx..
Ive learned more from you all, than a manual, which just go's over my head :))) Thankyou..

the little is so cute, your pictures are pretty good, they say the more practice the better, from your pictures the garden is really nice

12 May, 2011

lol Dee yes back as you know, you have seen my blog and yes we have great tans to :o)) good luck with camera

Not much wrong with the pictures you are showing here, one day I'll get as good as you are, I just can't handle cameras "any camera". that's why I hardly ever show any photos of my flowers shrubs etc esp not close ups. Your little boy is a handsome thing, is he trying to tell you something on that photo "how to handle a camera perhaps" for example

13 May, 2011

your nephew is cute and the garden lovely as for the pictures you are doing great, i cant use any camera if i want pictures i ask my daughter to do it ,if i dont know what im doing on the lap top shout for my daughter. good job she still lives with me! lol

15 May, 2011

Your little nephew is such a cutie and you captured a wonderful close-up....a photo to be treasured for sure :)

I never knew how to use the macro setting on my small camera either....until I met up with Sanbaz some weeks ago and she passed comment that it was for doing close-
ups for my flowers etc. Duh! It made perfect sense and I've had this camera for 4 yrs.!!! Slow learner...instruction booklets are to frustrate us...it's great that GoY members can give helpful advice...even to sorting out our camera difficulties.

15 May, 2011

What a beautiful picture of your nephew .I'm slowly getting used to mine so i know how you feel.

15 May, 2011

Thanks everyone for the advice, I haven't tried to use it again yet, the weather isnt right for pics lol.. when i have time im going to sit with it in the garden and just click away, i mean, i can't break it can I haha thanks again everyone..

15 May, 2011

Hi Youngdaisy! it's been a while. The pics you've posted look lovely...just had to add my two cents worth, as I also am getting used to a new camera and it does the same with the macro function...fuzzy or sharply focussed on the objects just behind the subject!!! grrrrr.....and face recognition...it makes me frustrated just writing this!! I have a Canon SX130 IS...and it is NOT as easy to learn as my previous Canon A420... The white balance is wonky on this one and there's something called "Image Stabilizer" that doesn't work at all!! and I'm going through batteries like there's no tomorrow. I think I'm going to look for another camera...It makes me angry working with this one...when the little 420 was such a dream. There is a Pentax that is not that expensive and it takes fabulous pics and it doesn't require a degree in computer science to operate...I think I'm going shopping.
But back to your pics...your garden is lovely! and what a sweet little face. Your smile recognition feature is working fine! I think the camera I have is just too advanced for me...I need a more basic model, but judging by the marigold and dicentra pics...you're getting the 'hang' of yours!

Hi Lori, seems ages since we spoke, How you doing?
Camera's eh, I just want to point and shoot really, Ive tried experimenting today with a little success but ill probably forget what i done :) Ill maybe go back to my old easy camera and just use the new one for christenings and weddings lol..

17 May, 2011

Yep! been there...done that..lol. I think my camera is possessed! Perhaps we should both just keep plugging away and sooner or later we'll get the hang! or get another one!
Yes we are finally moved. very long story...having a terrible spring... even longer story...garden is a bit big for one old lady...well you don't want to hear about that! Guess the blog will fill you in... I'm doing pretty good tho...all things considered...thanks young daisy! How did your tropicals work out?

21 May, 2011

Ive been catching up on your blogs Lori, How do you do it? You must be superwoman :) Sorry to hear about your bad weather, frustrating when all you want to do is get stuck into the garden, windy cool and raining here today :( Hope your spring come soon Lori, Love Dee..

22 May, 2011
