Private Gardens of Cornwall - Part 2

The next stop on the trip was at Poppy Cottage. Originally the garden consisted of a narrow strip running parallel to the road
But a few years ago, the owners bought some more land and planted up new areas around lawns
There was room for a stream
And a green, woodland walk
And colourful areas
There were hardy lobelias in lots of different colours including this pink one
Lamorran House is another four acre garden on a sloping site beside the sea. This means it rarely gets any frost but you have to screen the views to prevent gales and salt spray destroying the plants. The garden has a strong Italian flavour (the owner’s wife is Italian), and while there are azaleas in late spring, just now it is a very green garden.
To be continued ….

Fabulous, wouldn't mind a visit there myself. You're certainly getting out and about Andrew...

Fran- Poppy Cottage is about an acre now. It looks idyllic but there is a fairly busy road that runs beside it so there is always traffic noise :-(
Bamboo - I've taken the chance to do a couple of trips now my garden is not open to groups for this year.

You certainly know how to choose a garden to visit Andrew. They have all been spectacular. Thank you for sharing them all over the last wee while.

Absolutely idyllic, both gardens. Great compostition with the phototography too. What a delight to view these
pics this afternoon with the sky dark and gloomy outside.
Thankyou.....I was NOT disappointed with part 2.

an acre ... sigh. that'd probably be much too much for me, except in dreams - but oh, what dreams!

We can all dream Fran. The garden in my dreams is two acres

Out of these I`d choose Poppy Garden, the borders are really bright and so full and then you have the lawns surrounded by all the shrubs in varying shades and shapes add to that the water and we have it all, shame about the busy road but after a time I s`pose as with all things you`d take no notice after a while, I guess I`m dreaming now as well, lol....

a large part of my dream includes a wildflower meadow and woodland section - I know, the "natural" look ofgen takes a great deal of hard work, but still, the meadow should be fairly self-sustaining.

These are lovely Andrew. I went to Trebah 30 years ago when it was open for one day in the year..we found it by accident on the right day!
I do like Poppy Cottage very much but would like to add the Italiante one to it...that's my dream lol! However, your garden is no mean shakes either! We all enjoyed our visit last year.

Not been to Poppy cottage, one to add to the list it looks lovely, we visited Lamorran a few years ago steeply sloping but with some interesting plants well worth a return visit I think.

Thought I had seen all the Cornish gardens, obviously not!! loved Poppy my type of garden (well the English traditional part) Lamorran looks very interesting also with it's Italian flavour, that is the beauty of garden visiting no two are the same, found the Lobelia, might look out for some more now......

oh wow, Andrew, Part 2 certainly lives p to the promise of Part 1!
how much land they have now! from a narrow strip to two lawns, stream and woodland - and everything else! oh, i'm green with envy - in the good sense, I'd never be able to get a garden looking like this, or to keep it so.
Thanks so much for sharing!!
