MY BIG LEAVES DID NOT LET ME DOWN.

This was our first year creating a jungle, so we were not sure if it would work but…..all the plants did what they were supposed to do…..grow very big very quickly, take a look……

Two different Ricinus………

Arundo Donax…..still going well, is it going to stop I wonder?

Bananas Musa Basjoo and Abyssinian Red.

The Foxglove Tree with it’s beautiful velvet leaves. has grown 4ft this summer.

One of our ginger lilies even flowered which was a big surprise.

The Elephants ears was amazing as OH had grown it from a very hairy looking ball, see blog early this year.
The rest of the jungle contained Gunnera, Ligularias, Inula, and Macleaya many different Cannas and many other large leafed plants.
Will we carry on with it, I think so, we need to move one or two plants around to get the maximum effect.
Hope next years visitors will enjoy The Jungle Experience as much as we enjoyed growing these gigantic plants.

It's nice to see this kind of a focus in the garden.....it's not what usually appears in photos that I've looked at on GOY. It'll be a hit I'm sure!

Whiston pleased you like our jungle, Karen the grandchildren and their dog Colin, love it. GM as long as he does not take to wearing a loin cloth and start swinging through the trees........... I love your jungle, and am not a little jealous! Congratulations on achieving such a dramatic effect in, despite global warming, our not very jungle like climate. Just shows what careful planting can achieve. I don't think I could manage anything so spectacular in my garden, but can enjoy yours virtually without having to take the risk and make the effort.

San many thanks, not sure where to put them all as we only have a modest sized garden room......did not add the palms and the Yuccas and the phormiums to the blog!! lol
Kowhai they do take a lot of looking after, so you can enjoy ours without all the graft.
Thanks Annella and Hywel, it was fun watching them grow.
Littlegs and Nana glad you liked them.
