**REMEMBER THOSE TREES**

This is what faced us a few weeks ago…..three diseased Hawthorn variety Pauls Scarlet…..
**********************************
Well after much deliberation we decided to take out the box balls and the Libertia from the opposite side of the path and move them over to where the trees had been, we wanted something minimalist as the rest of the garden is quite exuberant in places, of course things progressed, as usual, decided to take out the arch in front of the conservatory, and the path with it!!which then meant we couldn’t reach the oval lawn without stepping through the border, so what to do……look on the internet lol!! and found the perfect solution! take a slice from the lawn, create a new gravelled bed, edge it with small setts (similar to the ones we have in the garden already) add a couple of box balls to tie in with the other bed, a grass some more Libertia and some low spreading hardy geraniums, moved over from the other bed! and a couple of stepping stones..
***********************************
Did it stop there….no of course not, we decided to take up all the stepping stones from the grass, which meant laying turf in all the holes….what to do with the stepping stones, they were solid and a good shape….the internet again, found the perfect solution a path infilled with stones, stepping stones and plants, such as thyme, camomile, sedum etc, and it looks a treat!! photograph to follow, just needs a few tweeks
…
***********************************
We then decided to move the large alpine sink from in front of the conservatory window, and enlarge the paved area, giving the garden a more spacious feel, and room for more pots!!
***********************************
So thats where we are at the moment, the rose border needs sorting, but thats another day, here are the photographs…about time do I hear you say!! sorry but I had to put you in the picture….
***********************************
Taken before the alterations….
***********************************
The border in front of the conservatory planted up with roses, hardy geraniums, daylilies, and edged with London Pride, and several different Ajuga,Japanese Anemones, Leucanthemum and Asters…
We are both very pleased with the way it has turned out, my poor OH has worked his socks off, bless him, time for a restful weekend, hope you like it, and if ever you are stuck for a design, Google it!! it worked for us!
Thanks for taking the time to trawl through my ramblings, enjoy your weekend, we are in for some very warm weather, so I hear, so weird!!

Gosh, you've done amazing well to have achieved such changes. The turf patches are invisible, the hawthorn lollipops won't be missed & I really like the new gravelled bed. The lawn is shrinking ....
Where did the alpine sink go?

Love it! Well done both of you. Internet is so inspiring sometimes isnt it. I really love the colour of the bistro set. It all looks very summery. By next June it will all have settled in and spread itself out!

Thanks Karen....the table and chairs were white.....I Annie Sloaned them using three different shades of paint, and then found some beautiful cushions in TKs to go on them the same colours as the chairs...as you say by June the front border will have taken off.. luckily the weather is mild, so Ideal for this sort of work....

Isn't it? I've just walked the dogs and had to take off my jacket and hat. REally mild for mid October. Still not much sign of the sun here though.

Now I've got it. Couldn't really get my head around what you had done. It looks great.
The sets between the pebbles and the grass are a great idea, make mowing so much easier, might pinch that idea.
