White nights

Why can’t we be blessed with white nights? Then I wouldn’t get called indoors when I am trying to sow seeds in the darkness of my shed.
Last night after work, it was so lovely outside I just couldn’t waste the evening by sitting in front of the TV, so planned an evening in the shed.
I managed to plant over 100 seeds last night before I heard hubby calling me in – he said it was getting dark…..I hadn’t really noticed.
He put his head round the shed door with a torch….‘what are you up to in the dark?’ he asked. ‘Planting more seeds!’ I replied with a smile. His eyes rolled – as if to say ‘Oh my, not MORE seeds’.
If all goes to plan, I am hoping to have a little plant stall later in the year, just for fun. Maybe at a Table-top sale or Car Boot, so I’ll need plenty of stock. I know folk like to buy plants and I’ve already told a few of my clients and work-buddies of my plan. They all say they’d buy some from me so I’d better make a success of it or my garden-cred will slide dramatically downward.
Tonight after tea, I managed to get another couple of trays of seed planted too, then darkness fell once more and I was resigned to the sofa….and my beloved GoY site.
I told a work-buddy about this site toda, I call it ‘my website’ – and showed him some of my pics – he was very impressed so I don’t think it will be long beforehe joins the site too.
I’ll just have to pop into the shed 1st thing in the morning before work to make sure the seeds get some water to start them off, I didn’t get a chance to tonight, as it was already too dark to see what I was doing. Hope I’m not late for work AGAIN through a bit of early morning gardening. It’s easy to get carried awayin the morning and almost ‘forget’ to go to work – chance would be a fine thing!
I’ll also be popping to the shop to buy some lighting tomorrow – then I can spend even longer out there tomorrow night – yippee!

I agree with you Greenfingers, your eyes get adjusted to the dark so you can go on for ages until you look away.

Never mind, we turn the clocks this weekend. xx

Can fully understand what you mean as very often have to finish in a mad rush cos its getting dark. Many years ago when my family were children I used to work in back garden until dark, then move to front of house and work by streetlight, mind you in those days we had warm evenings,Lol Hope your seedlings all grow well and good luck with your plans for a stall.......

Ah, yes, I am familier with 'twilight gardening'! lol I've done carboots with plants I've grown - it is such good fun! And even though you might have been out there for 3 hours and only made a tenner and then the boss-person takes a fiver for the pitch, it still feels like money very well earned - you don't get that kind of satisfaction from sitting in an office!!!

Oh how I understand! I am always in trouble at twilight - a voice says - 'what are you doing out there in the dark!'!! Well, I can see what I'm doing!

I shall be in even more trouble after we change the clocks! I'll have to be dragged in kicking and screaming .;-)

Problem solved - I bought a light for my shed. Runs off batteries and looks like a real light bulb - all for the bargain price of £2. Another garden bargain. Now I can be out there when it's pitch black and still sow my tiny, microscopic seeds LOL!

Been there, done that, lol! Well, now that the clocks have "changed", here's to an immediate extra hour of daylight in the evenings! :-)
