I'm still alive....

Yes, I’m still alive. Haven’t been on here for ages so thought I’d better let everyone know I’m still here…..
I’ve not been in the garden for ages….not even to hang out the washing! What’s happened to our weather – it’s put me right off going outdoors unless my life depends on it – or to go to work! I am fed up with the biting wind, the snow we’ve had has left me feeling chilled to the bone, and anyone who knows me really well knows how much I hate being cold! Bring on the spring!!!
Last Saturday evening, I was sprawled out on the sofa, reading the February edition of Gardener’s World mag, when I suddenly had the urge to get out in the garden. But after taking a look over the top of the pages, I noticed that darkness had fallen once more…..my hopes of a bit of pottering around were thwarted! Drat! So…..I’ve promised myself that I will be brave this weekend and wrap up like an Eskimo and explore the wintery garden. There’s a bit of tidying to do and I’m sure I can find something to do in the potting shed – even if it’s just washing out the seed trays and pots – I’VE JUST GOTTA DO SOMETHING GARDEN-LIKE!
I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s taken a vacation from the borders and lawn-care….my head is filled with colourful images of a flowery border, seed trays lined up on every windowsill in the house and my hubby rolling his eyes at yet another packet of seeds which has made it’s way into the house! LOL!
I just can’t wait any longer – this weeken will see some gardening action…..I promise! I’ll even post a photo to prove I’ve made it outdoors! I’m so looking forward to getting back on GoY too! My lazy-bones will no longer be lazy!
Happy gardening everyone!

I can't wait to get out too GF,welcome back by the way :) I think I will have to go out at the weekend and do a little weeding-I'm sure they've survived ! Just turning over the soil a little will help the birds and look tidier too.
I just hope I feel this enthusiastic by then ! At least it's starting to get lighter in the mornings :)))

Hi Greenfingers, nice to see you and welcome back!

A bit of mmm whats it called oh yes sun, so long since we've seen it, would get us all back in the mood for gardening wouldn't it.
I thought I'd do a bit more clearing today council garden waste bin emptied this morning (my three are all full) nearly filled it again today, hard work though Fudge (our lab) decided he'd like to come had help, every time I got on my hands and knees to weed he decided he'd try to sit on my knee and lick my face, of course the more I laughed the more he did it, little, sorry not so little, monkey.

hello again, glad you are back.
lots of plans at my end too.

You're not the only one GF, I too haven't been in the garden either, It will have to get a lot warmer before I get the urge. Luckily I managed to get my digging done mid December, I don't think it's a good idea to turn over the soil until it warms up as it buries the cold top soil.

the secret is dont take your pyjamas off just keep them as the bottom layer.....today the sun didnt come out and it was sooo cold but i had to get out there to work in the nursery. so two pairs of socks, pyjamas and trousers..three layers on top before the coat....i have to choose the right layers or i cant move.....and i have been choosing jobs that keep me moving. its good to be back outside again..so go on get those layers on GF....lol

I can't do any gardening in the winter either. My garden doesn't get sun from Nov until end of Feb. It is cold and wet and I am not going to do anything in it until it warms up. Roll on Spring.
Nice to hear from you :o)

Tsk, tsk! Get out there, all of you, and you'll see the sky and breathe fresh air - not to mention seeing definite signs of spring.....I HAVE to go off for an amble round, even if I only stay out for 10 minutes!

Good luck with your first 'safari' Gf - and welcome back!

Sandra, I am giggling at the thought of you looking like Michelin man... Sorry.....LOL.

Oh well, the spade I hoped to wield,is not going to happen today, after all.Its wet, windy, and cold.I had my first proper day out yesterday, since christmas, and so glad the nasty virus we both had, has gone.Had a lovely day out with my daughter and her partners mum,and we were treated to a lovely lunch. It was so nice to have a girly day out.As its only 10 weeks now till the baby arrives,we spent a lot of time in baby shops ..nice,and did a lot of aawing and oohing..and spending! Pram, cot etc,now sorted...one very happy mum and Grandma's to be.:o)) and poorer!...

Ooh GF don't make rash promises, it may snow again! I had a call from the Met Office yesterday to say that extremely cold weather is forcast for the next 2 weeks. I do think it is less cold today than yesterday, but a North wind is coming and you know the saying ... When the north wind doth blow ........
I can understand someone finding it uninviting to go into the garden at this time of year, but if I was fit I'm sure I would have to, just to see the different bulbs peeping through. It's such a thrill. I can see a few from indoors, but not not many. Maybe when February is out of the way, the temptation will kick in for you GF and hopefully the cold won't be so severe for us poor souls!!

You are not on your own i dont like the cold weather at all, and the garden is still very wet aswell so will hang on a bit till it gets a bit warmer, although i do go out in garden every month to put autumn feed on my lawn, so suppose i do a bit of gardening in winter.
