Lovely portraits Janey! I like them a lot. I see you are, like me, inspired by the Pre-Raphaelites!

Goodess Janey, what a talent you have! It baffles me how anybody can do it at all. Lexie is so beautiful!

I'm sure you could Sandra and Stera, and you'd love it! There was a piece in the Weekend mag (Mail on Saturday)
and it was Zara Drummond showing you how to draw to get the proportions right... It was very informative and interesting, and there's loads of schools online.
Yes, I love my girls best....thank you Stera..I'll tell her! :)) xx

Thanks so much everyone,I certainly didn't expect such a positive response it's very kind of you and to enjoy another hobby, when not in the garden....which will be soon we hope!
Today has been really mild, so many birds singing, there is a little wren in my garden and she has been chattering away, very loud and great tits perching on my newly pruned birch tree. Soon be February, then we'll be on our way back to the sun..
It will Dawn, Jim sends little videos of her playing, they've had a very hot and humid summer so far....I think Tazmania will suit them better temperature wise..xx

It’s been lovely to see all your paintings again.
Janey, we are currently on holiday with our granddaughters on Vancouver Island and rain is forecast for tomorrow, so Chiara wants me to do some painting with her . . . she has come prepared with a box of watercolours and three beautiful brushes. I just hope I won’t disappoint her!

Well this is a bit late in the day for you Sheila, but I hope you enjoyed your painting day with Chiara and had a wonderful holiday on Vancouver Island with your family around you..X

Hi Janey, nice to see you back. Hope all is well. So many terrific paintings, you're very talented.

Thanks for popping back in, Janey! I know you've had a busy summer, but I wonder if you had the chance to see a Channel 4 series called "Portrait Artist of the Year"? It was brilliant . . . each week there were three quite well-known people who sat for 4 hours, and nine artists - some professional, some amateur - painted them using any medium. Each week the sitter chose one portrait to take home with them, and three judges chose the best ones. I don't really like the competitive element, but no-one said anything too critical and it was absolutely fascinating seeing how very different each of the artists portrayed the sitter. I'm sure you'd have enjoyed it if you saw it - even OH did and he's never tried holding a paint brush! xx

Thank you Bathgate...I just wanted to visit my gardening friends, and here you all are, busy as ever and very welcoming..:))
Sheila, yes, I did see quite a few weeks...and portrait artist too. Just loved all the different colours they used and how different each painting turned out, there was some serious talent there!

Absolutely Janey - so glad you caught some of the programmes. We don’t have Sky (where this series started) so I was really glad they came to Channel 4. I love this sort of thing - wish there was more - and I’m hoping The Great PotteryThrow Down will also reappear!
