Visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens ~ Sydney

Whilst visiting Jim, we caught the ferry from Manly to Sydney’s Circular Quay to have a look at the Royal Botanic Gardens. The weather was beautiful and although it was their Autumn, there were still some beautiful gardens to see. Here are just a few pics to share…:o)
Government House
Looking towards Farm Cove
Beautiful Coleus in the foreground
The Opera House through the garden
A Frangipani Tree in full flower…the scent was amazing!
Fruit bats snoozing and waiting for late afternoon when they will
all fly off together looking for food.
The Fruit Bats use their leathery wings to keep them snug whilst sleeping….

Pleased you like it Bb......its worth saving up for, and the thing is there was so much to do that was free, so many beaches and coves usually empty...great walking and trekking places and so much to take pics of...loads of transport to choose from and reasonable priced.......it showed you a different type of life full of sun and light and positive thinking...........:o))

I would love to go too,a beautiful country, but don't think I could cope with the journey. Our nephew, who has just has his 21st birthday,is going for a year,in july,as they have Family in Adelaide,so will be staying there for a while, before travelling around.A lovely experience to look back on.I had the chance to go to and work in New Zealand in the 60's,but changed my mind at the last minute....cold feet...so ended up working in Isle of Man,London, and Liverpool instead...doesn't have the same ring .does it,?but an enjoyable experience, all the same..

doesnt matter where you are sandra as long as you are happy, the place doesnt bring happiness does it, i love travel but my heart is here, i think we have a beautifull country, cant beat our countryside anywhere

I agree San....though the weather in Aus really makes it, and helps you feel happy and bright, which is half the battle.
Bloomer....the journey wasn't too bad....especially going out, I flew from Manchester which was so easy,....both planes were less than half full, so plenty of room to share. I met some smashing peeps on the journey and we looked out for each other. I love to hear about other's way of life, and would live there tomorrow if we had enough money!

I'm rather late in seeing your lovely blog, Janey! Trying to catch up on people's blogs!
I love the photos you posted, the one of the Opera House, seen through the trees, is absolutely unique!!! Never seen anything like it before!
I think the Frangipani was the photo on my wife's computer desktop when she got it a few years ago.
The fruit bats are lovely! :-)

Those bats Labdancer were like monkeys hanging upside down...if they touched each other, they would start to squabble and screech.
I'm pleased you enjoyed it Balcony...the Opera House is an amazing piece of architecture...I'd like to see inside next time. The plants were beautiful...though they had lots of ours too.

Just found this Janey. I went earlier this year in March but didn't take many photos of the gardens so it was lovely to see yours. We went back on the ferry to Manly as it was getting dark, seeing everything lit up was brilliant.
