Camellias and Hibiscus of Sydney Australia

Hi Everyone! I’ve had the most fantastic holiday in Sydney, visiting my boy and his girlfriend. Early Autumn there and the weather was beautiful, and even though we never stopped, there was still time to take some plant pics…:o) The Camellias were at their best, just stunning and most gardens had at least one beautifully scented shrub.

Gorgeous photos, Janey. So glad you enjoyed your visit. My friend has just returned from Australia too, but she was delayed because of the volcano - she should have been home 2 weeks ago!

Nice photos, Janey! The Hibiscus reminded me of a visit my mum made to see me in Spain once. She bought me a red Hibiscus while she stayed with us. I had it on our kitchen balcony that got a lot of sun.
My wife bought me a Camellia a couple of years ago for my birthday & this year it flowered for the first time!
Glad you enjoyed your stay with your son in Australia. I was able to see our sons, who live in Spain, for the first time in over 3 years when my wife & I went over to spend our first Christmas together with our three children for the first time in 9 years. So I understand how you feel.

Thanks for all the great comments everyone...:o) The volcano erupted the day after I flew out and although it must have been terrible with all the disruptions, I was secretly hoping I would have to stay longer..Lol! Jim has a wonderful fast paced life, its a fantastic place for young people, full of opportunity and positive thinking...of course the sun helps.....:o) Though we miss him, he is very happy there which is everything...........

Hi Janey , welcome back , I must admit I did think about you and wonder if the Volcano would upset your travel plans , I had a feeling that you wouldn't mind being made to stay longer .. :o) i'm pleased that you had a wonderful time and i'm sure you have loads of photos of you son and partner , it is a good life out there you can't blame them for making the most of it while they are young ...
Did Ian cope by himself , and more importantly was the building work finished ready for your inspection ...lol...

It's great to have you back Janey, welcome home! Lovely blog as always, and the photos were a real treat. You must miss your son so much, but at least, with todays technology, you can keep in touch so much easier, despite the miles inbetween. Lovely to have you home again though! :~))

Aw...lovely to hear from you all...:o) I missed my hourly checks of GoY!
Amy, I think Ian enjoyed his 2 weeks of peace....and made me a smashing trellised arch....behind this is going to be the new veg patch...:o) Fraid the builders haven't started yet, but the scaffolding is all up. This is the first time we've ever had anyone to do anything, and it's a bit of a waiting game. The pub next door is being re-roofed and done up so it's muck and blather all round.....:o(
Thanks for the smashing comments Fp, Holly and Flori.....:o))

I've replanted a golden vine, a jasmine, a couple of clematis that were growing elsewhere Amy.......and there's a wisteria that's not doing too well I might move, they seem to take ages to actually flower though...it's exciting though planning it...:o))
