Fancy A Trip to The Lake District

*Simon and Claire have recently returned from a walking weekend in the Lakes it was the week after all the floods, the trip had been prevoiusly arranged with friends they had met up with on walking holidays, despite the worries that they wouldnt be able to get there they decided to go ahead. Luckily they were able to reach their destination without too many diversions and although they saw lots of flood damage on their journey the area around Windermere was ok.
The aim of the weekend was to do as many of Wainwrights walks as they could and after a happy reunion they all set off the following morning heading for Langdale Pikes.

A truly wonderful weekend , we managed Eight Pikes and a Beautiful 4mile walk through woodland valleys. Hope you enjoyed this walk, see you next time.*

Fantastic photos, PP, and so lovely to see the Lake District like this as I haven't been able to get up there for a few years. We have spent so many lovely holidays there but have never been during the winter months. My eldest daughter goes each January but I don't think their walks are as strenuous as Simon and Claires!
Some of the shots look like they are walking to the North Pole :)

The lake district is one of my favourite places up until four years ago we went ther twice a year on holiday.Although we did not go on many walks we went to some lovely places. As we stayed in the western lakes it was always quieter one of our favorite places being Wastwater the views are just superb where ever you go.As a family holiday it was just ideal.

So cool and magical to see the hills covered in snow. How adventurous of you to do this at this time of year and how rewarding to get such fabulous photos. Thank you for making the time to put this blog together to share the experience.

Many Thanks to everyone for your lovely comments plleased you enjoyed the pictures.
Gardeningfr and Sanbaz just to clarify it wasnt Harry and I did the walk, it was our son Simon and Claire his partner, although we both love walking this level is a little beyond us both now ! but how I wish!
Toto it was Simon who took the pictures another of his pastimes!

Thanks for the clarification. All my comment is still valid except I understand now it wasn't you who was adventurous. In the circumstances I think you owe me a photo of you doing something adventurous. What adventures do you have planned?

I have just done your Autumn walk blog. The problem was it is dark and I had to do it all alone as everybody else did it in October. I enjoyed the walk to the garden centre. Now I know where TT got the idea for her blog on a garden centre trip. I read your list of activities and still think I need something more adventurous from you in the future.

I wonder what you have in mind?

Well if I couldn't persuade you to hug a stone statue on your mini break in Derbyshire, the need for adventurous suggestions seems sorely needed but it is pointless unless you are prepared to accept a challenge. I find it is my granddaughter that usually inspires me to try something I wouldn't normally do. On her last visit it was a cable car ride.
14 Dec, 2009
Wow Gf you are adventurous!
14 Dec, 2009
As I don't like heights the cable car ride was a bit of a challenge but I got some good photos for a blog. There is one photo of the gardens taken from the cable car at the end of my Happy Valley blog. I do like walking up hills but don't like walking on snow or ice. I had a few bad falls on it at the beginning of 2009 and have no desire to repeat the experience this winter. In the circumstances I don't think I will be as adventurous as your son.

lol carole ;o)

Will have a look at your Happy Valley Blog GF I have always fancied a ride in a Hot Air Balloon but doubt if I would have the nerve if I was given the chance!

Lovely pictures Carole.I have many fond memories of the Lake district,as my parents and I lived on the coast at Workington, for 22 years,so were in easy reach of all these lovely places.Unfortunately,I didn't appreciate how stunning, it is,till I got older, but go back to stay with friends at Windermere ,now and then.Had many a lovely picnic,at various lakes...ah,happy memories.:o)).

Thanks Irene and Bloomer.
Bloomer Its lovely to be reminded of happy memories isnt it, Its my son Simon who is the walker and loves all the challenges he can get, we havent been to the Lakes ourselves for at least 10yrs,we were going to go to Grasmere for our Golden Wedding last November but it fell the week of the floods so had to cancel, we went to Chester instead.
