Yesterday, I posted a blog of photos of my garden on the last day of 2008 – all covered in frost.

So today I thought I’d go out into the countryside to see if I could capture some more photos of the amazing effects of this air frost – and found a world of chrystaline beauty. I hope you enjoy my pictures as much as I enjoyed my walk this morning…

Well Sid you ve been busy - what a beautiful series of photos any of these would make a lovely painting in fact thats what it feels like as scroll down. Stunning and shows that winter is not always dark and without its own beauty.

The one with the horses esp. lovely and given your skill make the most terrific painting.

Very nice photos I bet after that romp you went home and had a hot toddy.
My fav is the one with the trees lining the road.

Beautiful photos Sid. I always think the winter is as beautiful as any other season.

Stunning! Every season has its beauty and I do love winter (I'm a January birthday so that may have something to do with it!}

Cobwebs are magical when frosted, and the shape of plants are highlighted in wonderful ways when denuded of leaves.

Lovely Sid, I enjoyed this walk.
I took my camera with me today while driving around working. I decided to take pictures after the work was done by which time the sun had come out and it all disappeared! That'll teach me!

Thank you all of the lovely comments - I'm glad you enjoyed coming along with me on my walk. It was a very cold day - I was well wrapped up in long woollen coat, hat, gloves, scarf, long socks, but I could still feel the cold coming through. I think it was starting to effect my camera. But it was certainly a very beautiful day, with not a breath of wind - very, very still and quiet, except for the birds. I had cheese on toast and a mug of hot tea when I got home :-)

Skippy - I must admit that one or two of the photos were taken from the car window!

Fourseasons - me too - happy birthday for when it comes around!

Pottygardener - oh dear! Never mind, it's meant to be -5 here tonight, so I'm sure there will be more opportunities!

Bonkers - I might just do that ;-)

Hello Sid.
Happy New Year to one and all reading this. This another really gorgeous blog with pics that'll I will definitely enjoy revisiting, thanks for that! You're very kind and generous to share all these lovely photos for others like me to drool over!

On Jan 1st we too ventured out, ALL FIVE OF US and for once nobody grumbled. I think because the landscape was so prettily frosty, like yours. Photo 17 is most like the area we were in, in Piper's Wood, near Hanbury, Worcestershire. There were lots of cut logs and tree trunks for the children to enjoy playing on and around and under, and millions of deliciously rustling dry leaves Someone had thoughtfully left lying underfoot because they are fun to run through and kick in the air. Ice on the duck pond, and slithery half-frozen mud...
If anyone else watches Sir Digby Chicken-Caesar on UK TV (Mitchell & Webb), picture us running through icy fields and woods singing his tune loudly any time our feet threatened to go numb.

Yes Cat, they were all pretty hairy! I suspect they belonged to a trekking stables that was just giving them the winter off - they all looked in good nic. :-)
