The view from the kid's room

I thought we’d share some photos which show how the garden has evolved since we started by comparing a series of photo’s taken from a similar aspect each time (from Archie’s bedroom).

It all started like this in October 2008…the blank canvas!

And 3 years later the transformation is near complete by August 2011:

In between times this is how we’ve got from A to Z:

Really impressive and an inspiration to other would be gardeners faced with a blank canvas of green lawn.

i have only just stumbled on your blogs and looked thr them all, fascinating and so inspiring.
One or both of you have a good vision and design head, team work i suspect, but then to follow these ideas through and come up with this jewel of a garden. I hope you will be posting updates on its development.
Just for interests sake, how long did it take to 'just' design the whole of the garden, before you put a spade in the ground? Had to add you to favourites, if only to pinch ideas here and there!!

Resi - it really didn't take us long to come up with the high level design. We knew we wanted circles and different 'areas' of the garden. We had circles in our last garden but it was a very much smaller space. We also wanted an area to sit and relax and the bottom of the garden where it get's the most sun was the obvious choice. We had trouble with drainage so we thought a split level garden would help.
Other than that it was 'just' about getting stuck in and it's been metamorphosing ever since. We promise to keep posting updates but right at the minute our camera is bust which is frustrating as the garden is really changing day to day. Will keep you posted.
