A few days ago Hubby & I had a trip to The Alnwick Garden, hoping to see the cherry blossom before the wind blew it all away. As a Gardening Volunteer…I was interested to see the 100,000 tulips in flower……the Volunteers helped plant them in October/November last year…….a further 100,000 will be planted at the end of this year!!
Hope you enjoy the experience….there was a good display of the Tai Haku cherry blossom…it will just get better and better…..
The variety of tulip is “The Mistress”…
This is an example of the Tai Haku cherry in the Ornamental Garden…Isn’t it gorgeous :-)

My daughter and I were there in August and walked this lovely pathway. The effect of the single var. tulip is stunning and what a great contrast with the cherry blossom. I would like to send one of your pics to my daughter so she can see it too....is that ok?

I don't know what it is about pink tulips but I just love them. I'll have to get some for next year now. Thanks for showing these photos. They're wonderful. It must have been a joy to visit such a place and see so many tulips together. They looked fantastic with the fresh green grass aswell.
I've had to add this blog to my favourites because I just love pink tulips lol

They certainly make a statement Lou and it must have took some doing to plant that many. How many volunteers were there?

Thats fine Karen, glad to share the pics with your daughter.....Ian, the bulbs were planted over a period of a few weeks, on a Monday morning!! there would have been about 6-8 volunteers, with 4-6 of the garden team......I'm off there this morning, first time since my op....so I must go and get ready!!!......see you later :-)

I love the garden too and use my annual pass many times during the year.
