Save our bees

I’ve just signed the petition from 38 Degrees about stopping the use of pesticides containing neonicotinoids that endanger bees & have already caused several species of bees to become extinct.
I wonder if the members of this forum would consider doing the same? Here is the link to their Facebook page with the petition:
I’ve also emailed my contacts asking them to do the same as well as posting a comment & link on my Facebook page. The more of us who do these things the more the people responsible for taking decisions about the use of this pesticide will be forced to sit up & take notice of us & stop the use of these pesticides.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention Balcony. It's important that the bees are protected. They're only small, but vital to our planet.

The only problem with the one I signed up to,now keeps sending me lots of others stuff about supporting almost everything on the planet !...all well and good,if you have the time...

Thats always the problem Bloomer, I agree with doing everything possible to protect our bees and suchlike but some of these petitions can lead the way to other causes and I am afraid not always good ones, it makes me wary because of that, bit like the asking for donations, I would like to say yes but one does not always know what is around the corner so refuse to tie myself down with monthly commitments, much preferred the old way of giving what I can on the day, its a sad world when one has to resort to these measures to safeguard against being mugged but thats the way it is now......

Balcony I have signed the petition - it is a cause close to my heart - because every year in my garden the bees and butterflies seem to get less - so anything to help must be good

I agree,Sue..in fact I find it very annoying, when they try to stop you,at every opportunity..sometimes it feels quite intimidating..I do give, but to who I want to give to.not to someone who wants me to commit to signing anything...I also stopped leaving charity bags on th doorstep,a long time ago,as conmen were stealing them before the collectors van arrived..no name on their van is a dead giveaway...so we always take them to the shops again now..

I have emailed my M.P. requesting him to inform me what progress is being made in Government to stop these manufacturers using chemicals that destroy certain species of Bees.
Suggest everyone does the same.
Thanks Balcony.

I also signed the petition that Fran posted a link to. This is a different petition, one that asks the Environment Secretary to halt the distribution of pesticides that containing neonicotinoids known to harm bees & probably other "good guys" as well.
Although I posted the link through Facebook, Waddy, you don't have to go through Facebook as you can go straight to the 38 Degrees webpage & sign the petition. Perhaps I should have posted the link to their page rather than through Facebook.
Here is the direct link then:
http://www.38degrees.org.uk/page/s/ban-the-pesticides-that-are-harming-our-bees#petition
Hope more people will be encouraged to sign up! As for getting more requests to sign petitions, Lincslass,Bloomer, you are quite right, they do send out more petitions but you can always unsubscribe your email & then you won't be bothered any more by them.
