Hi, I’m the new boy about the house!
I discovered this site quite by accident when I was looking for a picture of a flower I didn’t know of before. A picture featured on this site came up & after looking around a bit I’ve decided to join up.
I don’t have a garden as I live in a block of flats but I do have a balcony about 3 metres long & 1 metre wide which is packed with plants.I’ll include a photo of it with this post.
I get comments from passers-by & many heads turn as they pass. Even the bus drivers knew me for my balcony!
I have the only balcony with plants in the whole building!

Wow Balcony I think this can be classed as a 'garden' - you obviously put a lot of work into it and it looks fantastic. There's so many plants there! Welcome to GOY.

And here's another welcome for you.
Your balcony looks fantastic.
I only found this site by accident aswell when I was trying to find the name of a plant, but it's been the best accident I've ever had.

Wow, your balcony is a splendid landmark! I am sure many passers by appreciate your efforts.
I am sure many of us have stumbled across GoY and celebrate that day, it is a great community. Welcome and enjoy.

Thank you so much to everyone! I didn't expect such a big welcome on my first day!
I have many, many photos of my balcony as I like to keep a photographic record & because one all too soon forgets what it was like just a few weeks/months ago!
I like to compare photos around the same time year on year to see the differences as no two years are ever the same!
The watering certainly does keep me busy. I probably have more plants growing in my three square metres of balcony than many people have in their gardens!

WOW your balcony is great, and welcome to GOY.

Welcome from me too - great balcony but is there any room left for you to sit and enjoy it?
5 Apr, 2009
Thanks everyone for your kind comments :) I 'll be uploading a few more photos (I've got 100s!).
As for space to sit on the balcony & enjoy it, believe it or not there is space for a table & chair in the middle of the balcony. I will see if I can find one to add here. But one of the problems is that the balcony faces more or less south west & the afternoon sun can get too hot! :(

Hi Balcony.....I'm a bit late but Welcome to GoY. Your balcony is fantastic. I'm not surprised everyone's heads turn. Beautiful.

I'm late too, but welcome to GOY! I also found this site by accident, a very happy one I have to say!!!
Well done, I'm proud of you......... I'm sure all the wildlife love you too, your balcony must be a welcome site for their eyes and noses, as well as everyone who goes past your place!!!
Too often I see washing hanging from balconies and it's just too sad. I mean, what was the tumble dryer invented for!!!
btw, I am lucky enough to have a "proper" garden and I never hang washing out!!!

Welcom Balcony:
I too am new and stumbled upon the site. You sure make the best of a small space. Love it!

I'm amazed that you don't have constant accidents outside your window. There should be "Stop" signs, pedestrian crossings, speed bumps - the whole gamut - here, it's wonderful! :-)
10 Apr, 2009
David have you visited my street? There are speed bumps close by & there is a "lollipop lady" (because of the school just over the road, not because of my balcony! lol!
Glad you like the photos of the balcony, though! :)

Well, I haven't, lol, but glad to hear that safety measures are in place, haha!

May I welcome you a year after your arrival? My excuse is that I only just got here myself !
Your balcony is a sight for sore eyes.

Gurthbruins, Thank you for your comment & I'm very pleased that you like my balcony!
Of course it doesn't look like that all the time, in fact it only looks like the photos above four a few months of the year.
Obviously I only chose the best of different years to put in my very first blog on GoY! LOL! :-)
Thanks for welcoming me to GoY even if I have been posting here for over a year. :-) I enjoy posting here & commenting on people's photos & blogs. I also enjoy making up my own blogs & having somewhere I can show off some of my 1,000s of photos of my plants, balcony & of other places.
