I thought I would share a snapshot of what was flowering here in my dry tropics garden during the middle of Spring … which was October.

We’re still receiving unseasonal rainfall and the dreary overcast days continue through November … our last month of Spring … here in my north-eastern corner of Oz. The dreaded Summer is approaching and that’s always a harsh time out in the garden here.

Anyway … please click on this link …
Snapshots of mid-Spring … which is October … in my garden

and make sure your speakers are not turned up too loud … there’s music!

Deal, Floralhead ... it'll be a real change for both of us, lol! Not sure I'd have enough winter clothes though ... I could count my collection on one hand!!

utterly fantastic! do you have to do lots of watering? i feel as if i have visited the exotic house at kew?
i love so many of the plants its hard to pick one or two out ~ but the white tree and the lilies ~ stunning! and thank you for putting the photos on.
what was the music? my internet link is not good and i kept losing the music which was a shame.

Thanks Stickitoffee. The trees and shrubs around the property have to survive on the rainfall we receive as there are quite strict watering restrictions in my part of the Oz. However, I have to do a bit of hose watering because quite a lot of my plants are potted plants. We always exceed our allotted amount of water each year and there's always a bill!
The music was by a composer called Shane Walsh ... I quite like his pieces ... very relaxing. It was a shame you couldn't hear the whole pieces.

i shall find them somehow ~ when the connection is better? i really like music to go with pictures ~ havent mastered that art yet myself tho!

Stickitoffee ... you'll find Shane Walsh music on YouTube as well.

You can use mine if they fit! Lot's of places to shop nearby :)
I wanted to say how beautiful your lilies are.

just listening to shane walsh on youtube, i like instrumentals cos you can imagine your own pictures; make it suit how you feel and what images you choose to conjure up, maybe lilies and white trees will feature?

Lol, thanks so much Floralhead ... you're so kind! I'm not sure I would survive one of your Winters ... as a matter of fact I'm pretty sure I wouldn't, even with layers and layers of clothing.

Loved your blog, Bernieh! :-)) Your gardens are sooo much different to what we are used to seeing up here! I also read another of your blogs " Part 3: My Driveway Garden Beds." as well as "Mosaic Monday" . What programme do you use to get your photos in mosaics with 3/4 or more photos in boxes with the black borders?

15 Nov, 2010

Thanks Balcony. I only use Picasa ... I make the mosaics by using the collage function twice. I make the first collage of photos using the 'Mosaic' function, then I use that collage as a photo and place it on the 'Picture Pile' background. Hope that makes sense! I had a lot of fun playing around with Picasa ... it's just so, so easy.

i used to use picasa and quite liked it but had problems with my computer crashing ~ i never knew quite what caused it but havent used picasa since and its not crashing now.

Sorry but I tried clicking on that and it didn't work :o( I waited a while and at last got 3 notes and a photo of some branches. Then it stopped.

im no expert hywel but it could be the internet connection, sometimes i can make the music play better if i hit pause first ~ you can see it loading up, then it can play the full tune.

16 Nov, 2010

I think Sticki's hit the nail on the head there, Hywel. It does sound like you have a slower connection speed than some, and the size of my blog means it would take ages to load. Sorry it didn't work for you.

Never mind. Yes it has become rather slow recently :o(

Hi Bernie

Is Shane Walsh playing this music?

it reminds me of the one and only time I heard Christopher Reeves playing music he had composed (he played superman and broke his neck in a riding accident) - it was like running water - so very soothing and 'complete' - which probably doesn't make sense ... anyway - I'd like to hear more =)) Cheers - Cate

Cate ... I'm not sure if Shane is actually playing but it sounds good anyway. Hearing Christopher Reeves playing must have been interesting ... especially if he was playing his own music. It's lovely to have some soothing relaxing music playing away in the background.

it was an eye opener yes - a player and composer - just didn't say much about it - and I do so agree - music enhances so many things - and can be so many things too - one of my favorite sounds is the wind in a stand of casurinas - blissfully peaceful =)
