Winter can be such a dull time in the garden – I really appreciate the colour of these growing around my courtyard:
Pelargoniums
Violas
Petunias
Nasturtiums

You are very lucky.
You would not see any of thoes except the Violas in our winter gardens. perhaps the odd Geranium down south in a cottage door way.

Thanks Lily and Bjs - tried out the collage tool on Picasa and created these so easily. Technology is fun!

Bigbumblebee - Picasa is a free download from Google. It is serious fun - hours and hours will suddenly disappear from your day!!

Thanks to all - I've been laid up with the flu (and of course I'm sick during the school holidays) and being a bit bored, what better way to pass the holidays than fiddling with technology. If you google 'Picasa' you'll find where to download it free and there's even a youtube video that shows you how to use it!! It's provided lots of hours of fun - and makes me feel a little better about spending the holidays at home!!!

Yes Neellan and Lincslass it's little and not too often when it comes to absorbing the technology stuff isn't it. I need to do each thing quite a few times to remember how and I usually write it down. Picasa looks great.

That's exactly how I do it too Lily2 - lots of short attempts and I write down how to do it as I go.

Lovely collages, Bernieh! I've been using Picassa practically since it came out. But I haven't tried my hand at making collages. I've been printing a caption onto the photos for some months now but have 1000s of photos & there is no quick way of doing the captions, each has to be written out & then pasted onto the photo. You can change the colour & even the angle at which it is displayed. I've done it vertically & at different angles but only used black or white lettering. I now tend to upload the photos from my digicam or phone camera to a folder on the computer then I start up Picassa which copies them into its own programme where you can then make changes. It will automatically make a copy of any photos you modify & keep it in a folder within the original folder - therefore it's important to keep your photos organised into folders.

Thanks so much Balcony - have to fiddle a bit more with Picasa to learn about all it can do. Yes - I've learned the art of keeping photos organised into folders as I was finding it so difficult to remember where everything was.
