Red Shoes and Snowdrops

In the last few weeks as days shortened and the dark evening descended I have picked up my paints again after two years something I was unsure if I would ever do, and found it quite refreshing it started with me picking up a canvas I had started about five years ago and abandoned as I could not paint the shoes to my liking suddenly I could see what was wrong and took me no more than an hour to alter it,There was no photo to work from the painting being totally from my romantic imagination.!

I then moved to another canvas I had made a drawing on of my favourite yellow snowdrops about two years ago and decided the time was right carry on with it, again there is no exact photo although I have many pictures of snowdrops .They are loosely based on ones that come within the group Galanthus Sandersii.
Question now is do I start another from scratch and limit the hours per day( the detail becomes hard on my eyes)
I need another original idea to tempt me.

Please don’t suggest Jamie there are already to many of him.lol
Added this one for newer members

Enjoy

Thank goodness that you are painting again as you are so talented. I love the paintings you have shown us on here (not to mention the red shoes!) and please produce lots more for us to see and enjoy.

He certainly is. I do like these. Sorry Bjs I cannot suggest a subject as I feel you need to relate to what you paint in a very personal way. I wish I could paint like you. Its a fascinating hobby and I hope you do a lot more. I did nominate it for Goypedia but there is no category for paintings.

I too nominated for Goypedia Brian but there is nothing for paintings.

I have added you to favourites so I can keep coming back to look.

They all have a ethereal quality about them Brian. I am so impressed with anyone that can hold a picture in their head with enough detail to paint it. I'm glad you picked up the brushes again and look forward to the next paintings! I've been thinking about doing the same lately.....

that talent also missed me out along with many other talents. lol. Beautiful, so clever, glad you have taken up the painting again it must be so relaxing being able to put down paint on a canvas, an idea from me would be poppies in reds and pinks and purples, mainly because I have just been reviewing some photos and they are stunning all stood tall and so colourful, I just love poppies. Love them all, great pictures think we should have a gallery slot in Goypedia, so many talented painters on this website. :O)

Brian-how about Andy Carroll or Big Fat Sam?

Love them all ... the first one made me think of a Jack Vettriano painting ... love those shoes!

Either would be a challenge Pcw but are you sure he could relate to them.

They are amazing. The snowdrops give me a very strange feeling, sort of other worldly. I can't even paint walls properly let alone pictures its a wonderful gift to have. I agree with Amy, why so many gifted goyers and me left out?

It must be great to have the talent to interpret pictures in your head on to canvas, they are all wonderful, gone on to favourites.

Love your paintings, and so pleased you have taken it up again, We have several artists in the family who have started painting again, I am always banging on about them wasting their talent....
As for content... my neighbour exhibits her paintings, and she used one of my clematis in the rain photos (the best I had ever taken)! also I put a photograph taken with my phone of a French arch which several GOYs said would make an excellent painting? if you want to see it let me know......

It is good to see your paintings again Brian, I am another Goyer who cannot paint to save my life but love to see other members work, I am biased and although remember seeing it before still admit my fav has to be Jamie....

Like others in their comments have already said, these are great painting, Brain! :-))

I had no idea you painted & I've been a member of GoY for at least 5 years now! The painting of Jamie it would seem has been posted on here before but I don't remember seeing it. He looks very realistic in your painting & I love the idea of him chasing after an umbrella being blown away by the strong wind!

Your Snowdrops also look very good! I'm one of those who can't tell one end of a paintbrush from the other! LOL! :-D)

Hope you do some more paintings & post them here for us all to enjoy! :-))
