Round three for "The Apprentice"..

The next lesson for Thomas, was all about the importance of water in the garden..first,the Bird Bath, for our feathered friends..not to be used for hand washing and splashing !..but he did..Luckily ,it had been cleaned out ,the day before..
A clean dry change of Tee shirt was needed, before his next task..getting to grips with the Watering can..
" what the heck is this thing for" ?
" Ah,so that’s how it works,silly me :o)
So why is there no water in it then ?"
“Cos you wouldn’t be able to lift it,that’s why "…and you don’t have another dry Tee shirt ! "

Did Thomas pat the water very hard ... many times? ... Children always seem to do that ... love the expression in the last pic ... priceless! :o)))

Well you are going the right way about it.My son has given up part of their garden to my granddaughter age 10 she comes to rhs shows with us (buys more plants than me ) & on the allotment..i have always taught her what bit i know..she is growing toms, pumpkin, peas, cucumbers & lots of flowers..good job as her mum & dad are not real gardeners..so keep up the good work with little Thomas..:o)

that is lovely
we used to give the children small buckets [eg sand castle type] and an old wide paint brush ~ they spent hours painting the slabs ~ all free, harmless and clean ~ but fun! perhaps thomas would need one of those aprons too??!!

Aah, he's gorgeous. Kids just love water don't they?
21 Aug, 2011
He certainly did,Shirley..they just love water, don't they?
It was a lovely warm afternoon,so left him to it !.The little monster can now reach door handles..found him stood in the wardrobe..and had been in a drawer of mine..he prefers my stuff on the floor, apparently ! Lol.
That is great for her,Joanella..and she sounds to be doing a great job..Thomas's mum and dad aren't into gardening either..I think they always remember what they did with their Grandparents, and we hope it always stay's with them..
Thank you,Sticki..that is a great idea..will get something sorted..as you say,an apron would be good ..and I can wear a Cagoule ! Lol.

or a wet suit!!!
21 Aug, 2011
Thank you,Sheilah..they certainly do..:o)
That doesn't sound a bad idea,Sticki..as long as no one takes a photo! Lol.

i hate having my photo taken but i see thomas doesnt mind!!
21 Aug, 2011
He'll be planting nasturtium seeds by next year! Isn't he great?
Sticki, your slab painting reminds me how I used to be given a jar of beetroot juice and sent out to paint the dustbin. For ages i thought this was a real job that had to be done, but was always very disappointed that the dustbin never turned that gorgeous purple colour...

I hope he will be planting something,Steragram..preferably not me ! Lol..and yes,he is great..love him to bits:o)) that made me laugh, about the Beetroot juice..ha ha...

As proof that grandchildren do remember what they did with their grandparents. I used to be exactly like your grandson with my Nan and Grandad who both loved gardening. They got me interested and here i am now.
My Mum isn't too fussed about gardening, but I love it. It is just a shame that they both died just before I had enough time and money to do it at my place.

Fantastic. What a gorgeous little lad he is Sandra. I do envy you that, my little gt.granddaughter is too far away.

That's nice,Alex..I wish I had known all mine, and my lovely Grandma ,who is the only one I knew,,wasn't well enough to do any gardening..but lots of happy memories anyway..:o)
Thank you,Cinders..that is a shame, you must really miss seeing her ..we are so lucky,to live only 5 minutes away by car..I think we all know about the 'live wire 'bit !!

Thanks San..he does keep us on our toes..:o)We don't need exercise lessons, with him around..Lol.
23 Aug, 2011
Growing up fast Bloomer, he`s happy with his task, it shows on that cheeky face, not surprised he keeps you on your toes, when mine were that age they were always happy to help even if it was weeding in the wrong place and water draws them like magnets, I always had spare clothing kept here.
Make the most of it, sadly mine now think gardening is Not Cool, lol........
Smashing pics....
23 Aug, 2011
Thanks Lincslass..I suppose it's inevitable with most of them,as they grow up..but you all have the memories, which is nice, and they won't forget the fun they had..:o)
