We visited this a couple of weeks ago,so thought you would enjoy the displays..It was the first time we had been, but as it was a lovely sunny afternoon,we were so glad we did..and just wish we had gone sooner than 2pm..so much to see,as we didn’t realise how big it would be..and only 50p each..:o) I took so many pics, there are too many for one blog,so once again,I will be doing a Part 2 later..just couldn’t leave them out..:o)
These were the displays as we went into the Marquee..so a lovely first impression..
The first stands, were submitted by The Yorkshire Gladiolus Society..and were for any Exhibitor who had not won a 1st prize in a Gladiolus show…just lovely..
This won first prize in the floral art section..
but this was beautiful too..
Now on to the Veg section…all firsts…I loved this one..
This Cabbage was amazing…glad I hadn’t to struggle preparing this!
They look so tasty
On to Vases of flowers now..all so beautiful…
Look at the size of this Begonia..WOW !
So much detail in the Exhibit..
flower pot men..
..a cute Buzzy Bee..
We are now halfway round the Marquee now,so will add the remainder soon.Hope you have enjoyed the visit..

Lovely selection at the show, Sandra .. I really like 'Mary, Mary' with her silver bells ... so much detail has gone into that little display ... don't forget the Dahlias in part two ... lol! . . . . .
25 Aug, 2011
Thanks Shirley..I liked the little pieces of Sedum as a hedge..:o).I wouldn't dare forget the Dahlia's ..I would be in trouble..although there are nowhere near as many as The Eden Project !..in fact, not many at all..so much more to try and include in the next blog..I shall now await a rollicking from you know who ! lol...I'm really scared..ha ha...

26 Aug, 2011
I've been finding difficulty concentrating on all the comments and it started to get on my nerves, so I took some 'time out'
I'll gradually get back into it (maybe lol)
26 Aug, 2011
I know just what you mean ,Hywel..it has been very busy, and we are all finding it difficult to keep up..lots of blogs and pics, and I'm just as bad,as I've done a lot,lately....maybe save them for a boring day,or when you feel like it..and sometimes it's just nice to look..we don't always need to comment, unless we want to..our choice,at the end of the day ..but always nice to hear from you..:o))
26 Aug, 2011
Thanks. You're very kind :o)
27 Aug, 2011
You are more than welcome,Hywel..give Blodyn a hug from me :o))

28 Aug, 2011
It was no trouble,Poppy,I enjoyed doing it..Thank you..:o)

29 Aug, 2011
Thanks San..glad it cheered you up..it cheered us up as well, seeing them all..a lovely display..:o)
29 Aug, 2011
Wish they had a show like this by us Bloomer, lovely pics and info. I'm having to save lots of blogs and pics for winter as it's taking ages to try to catch up. Still, it means lots to look forward to so thanks:-)
30 Aug, 2011
aw,bless you,Ba..glad you enjoyed it..good idea to save them for the winter..we will all probably need some cheering up by then..hope it isn't coming early..it's been cold here today,so we took ourselves off to a NT house and gardens..so at least we were mainly inside..a lovely day out,so we were really glad we went..:o)
30 Aug, 2011
It's cold here too Bloomer, feels like autumn, had a coat and beret on the other day walking the dogs...and socks! The strange thing is we tend to get a little sun some time after 6 pm, but dull and cold all the rest of the time:-)
31 Aug, 2011
Ditto,Ba,,just reminded me,I need to get the CH,serviced before winter comes..hope you don't read this as OH..he is fine, but getting a bit creaky round the knees..aren't we all ? ..must look for theWD40 ! Lol..:o)
31 Aug, 2011
We've just had new combi heater and rads. Now we've got fireplace with big hole in as the old one was a Baxi back boiler...what fun:-)
31 Aug, 2011
The combi boilers are brilliant,Ba..I wouldn't go back to anything else..you will be so cosy this winter..and hot water instantly..just great..Are you going to put another fire in? A lot don't bother, and make a feature of it..but I'm afraid I like my gas fire as well..especially if I don't need the heating on..It could be a nice focal point though, with or without..:o)
31 Aug, 2011
Got to find a fire with flames and yet heat efficient ...good luck to me:-))
2 Sep, 2011
I hope you find one you like,Ba,,such a lot to think about, but as well as pleasing to the eye,it is no good if its a gas guzzler,is it ? Ours has a balanced flue.as we have no chimney,so it has a glass front..coal effect with flames,,but so warm and very reasonable,as gas prices go..
2 Sep, 2011
Does it look real Bloomer? I've not actually seen this sort working, only on the computer and it makes it feel more cosy seeing flames doesn't it:-)
3 Sep, 2011
Yes it does,Ba, and we have had ours about 10 years now..I'm not keen on those 'pebble or stones' look..I like to see something that resembles a fire..
3 Sep, 2011
I'll google balanced flue fires, maybe they can be inset in some way to fit in the hole:-)
3 Sep, 2011
Just an important note on that,Ba..your fire must be on an outside wall,as the flue goes outside, for all the fumes to disperse....
3 Sep, 2011
We have a gas fire with flame effect in our lounge ... the wall has the kitchen the other side and the fumes go up and out through the chimney! ... Have I just confused you even more, Ba? . . . . .
3 Sep, 2011
If you have a chimney,Shirley.,you can have most types of fire..except a balanced flue..they are meant for a house without one..and an outside wall..sorry,Ba, we are making things sound confusing..i bet you wished you had never mentioned the B....y gas fire ! LOl..but Shirley and I are experts at confusion,as you should know by now !:o)))).
3 Sep, 2011
Shall I just go now . . . . .
3 Sep, 2011
I'll come with you ..Lol.
3 Sep, 2011
I love the way this blog began with a local flower show ... and then turned to talk of gas fires ... lol! ... :o)))
3 Sep, 2011
That's GoY for you..we are so versatile aren't we ? and so able to talk about any subject thrown at us..yeh,right ! Lol.
3 Sep, 2011
Changing tack completely ... are you watching the Proms? ... Brilliant stuff! . . . . .
3 Sep, 2011
no we aren't,Shirley..someone who shall remain nameless,is watching 'The extra factor '!..but we did watch ;Little Red Tractor' and 'Pinky dinky Doo' earlier..recorded from CBeebies this morning ! Lol.
3 Sep, 2011
Oh no, I can't stand anything like that ... CBeebies has never been watched in this house so I can't pass judgment on those progs ... but I expect they're very informative and educational ... lol! . . . . .
3 Sep, 2011
Neither had we,Shirley..but it's a whole new ball game with a certain little person..if only to watch him dancing to the music!:o))
3 Sep, 2011
Oh, I didn't realise Russell was fleet of foot too ... lol! ... No, wait a minute ... you mean Thomas don't you? :o)))
3 Sep, 2011
:o))))))))) that made me laugh out loud again,Shirley..Russell..fleet of foot ? It is difficult when they are both left ones !!Lol...Thomas is a mini John Travolta when it comes to rhythm..OH is more like a John Sargeant ! bless him..:o)
3 Sep, 2011
So it's the 'walk around slowly' dance for you two ... welcome to my world! . . . . .
3 Sep, 2011
Definitely,Shirley..that's if I can get him on the dance floor at all..although to be fair,he can still jive, bop, rock 'n roll, whatever you care to call it..but ( violin time again ) we don't get out much ! Lol.
3 Sep, 2011
On that sad note I shall bid you goodnight, Sandra ... lol! zzzzzz
3 Sep, 2011
Back to the Home For the Bewildered for you two I think lol:-))) Decided to have an electric fire after reading your comments!!! Not really, think I've found a few contenders, even though you've both done your best to confuse me. Just hope the weather doesn't turn nasty before we have one. I found a high efficiency inset fire on Ebay, cheaper than others I'd found, but just a little concerned as the seller doesn't have feed back scores so must be new. I have bought new things (furniture) before on Ebay and it was fine, and I've bought a lot of plants this way too and clothes, so maybe I'm worrying unnecessarily:-)
4 Sep, 2011
I have never bought or sold a thing on E-bay ... good luck with your new purchase! ... :o)
4 Sep, 2011
Neither have I ,Shirley..but a lot seem to..just be careful about electrical stuff,Ba..there are a lot of places won't accept them,in case they are not up to safety standard..sorry to sound pessimistic, but would hate for you to get an unsafe product..I suppose you could always get it checked by an electrician, just for peace of mind..
4 Sep, 2011
Bloomer I was only joking about getting an electric fire...not a millionaire lol...and I noticed the Ebay shop only had silver finished HE gas fire for sale, so I don't have to worry about it..back to Google:-) I have bought so much stuff off Ebay, gets a bit addictive when you first use it, but you can find some lovely plants like polemonium Northern Lights. Don't suppose I would use it if we had a car though, nothing beats the garden centre and plant fair visits :-))
5 Sep, 2011
You got me there,Ba..I thought you were serious ! Lol.I should have known you were more sensible than I gave you credit for.! ...especially now I know you buy lovely Polemoniums :o)
5 Sep, 2011
How wonderful to know that I am more sensible than you thought, I've never been accused of being sensible before lol:-)))
6 Sep, 2011
but it is so true,Ba...(says she, crawling, for ever doubting her ) :o))
6 Sep, 2011
I should think so too:-))
6 Sep, 2011
Think it was because you have shaved your Eyebrows off again ..:o)),but at least we still have our double chins ! Lol.
6 Sep, 2011
How very dare you!!!!! it's an extra big smile:-)))))
6 Sep, 2011
Ok then,whatever you say,..so is mine :o)))))
6 Sep, 2011
No, yours is a double chin lol:-)))))))))))))))))
6 Sep, 2011
I used to like you,Ba...:o((((((((
6 Sep, 2011
Have you got nothing better to do Bloomer? Get off the computer and get some work done!!! Ooops I think I'd better follow my own advice:-)))
6 Sep, 2011
As a matter of fact..no ! I baked, cleaned the kitchen, and cooked meat and onions for a meat and potato pie, this morning..This woman's work is done !..and what have you done today, may I ask ??
6 Sep, 2011
Not a lot, caught bang to rights:-)
6 Sep, 2011
I will be doing not a lot.,tomorrow..:o)
6 Sep, 2011
Me too:-)
7 Sep, 2011
Went to the pub for lunch today..just to get out..awful weather..had 40winks..and more ,this afternoon..and made a jelly with some fresh raspberries in..Thomas loves jelly.:o)....so a very busy day !!! Lol.
7 Sep, 2011
Was it a good lunch? and is Thomas the only one who loves jelly? :-)
8 Sep, 2011
It was a lovely lunch, thank you Ba..a regular haunt for us..
Pensioner special.2 courses with tea or coffee..£6.25p each.we know how to live it up!..and no,they all like it,with icecream..nice and easy .:o)..and home made fruit cake with a cuppa later..I am just too good to them..:o))
I would show you my Halo, but can't find the right shape..!!
8 Sep, 2011
Sounds lovely Bloomer, what sort of fruit cake? very keen on cake (and jelly):-))
8 Sep, 2011
Just a mixed fruit one Ba..a recipe from my mum's old Bero book..most of it done in a pan..so easy..but I cook mine in a loaf tin, instead of a deep cake tin...easier to slice..takes about 1hour,30 mins..It stays moist for ages,if it lasts that long..:o)
8 Sep, 2011
Sounds lovely, I wonder if you can still get Bero flour? I've never made a cake in a pan:-)
11 Sep, 2011
It is,Ba..you can have the recipe if you like ,and yes they do still sell Bero flour, but I gave up using it years ago..I use Sainsbury's basic value one,at about half the price.. and their plain flour as well..my cakes and pastry are not any different with a cheaper one,but I do sift it..but that's just habit really....
11 Sep, 2011
Yes please Bloomer, the recipe would be appreciated:-))
11 Sep, 2011
Ok,Ba..will do ..:o)
